“Decent facilities but terrible service/avoid cocoon spa!”
Started off well and we enjoyed the great morning menu. The pool is nice and we spent a lot of time at the family pool but every time we went it was quite full and had to wait for seats. Decided to actually extend our stay for two more days because we wanted to just relax. Was going to extend 2 more to explore more of the facilities and ended up ruining the experience by going to the cocoon spa. The English level of the staff there is generally very low and it becomes more apparent when there is a problem. The staff also seems to hate any kinds of complaints.
We booked the cocoon spa for valentines and paid for their very expensive Cocoon Rebirth in their "cocoon nest." Do not bother as it's just another room but in a room that looks like a Linder chocolate ball (and about as claustrophobic).
My wife had the massage and said it wasn't even as good as the street massages.
1) they actually made us fill out a form for 5 minutes that also detailed what areas of the body and what kind of massage you wanted. My wife had a sore neck and head and asked for that to be the focus. That paper was useless as they just gave her a generic full body massage that didn't spend more than 5 minutes on the listed areas.
2) this is the really infuriating part. We arrived 15 minutes earlier and requested the nest. The lady told us it would take 10 minutes to prepare the room. She did NOT tell us that it would cut into our massage time, especially since it took them more like 20 minutes and then they SLOWLY walked us over there, gave my wife a foot wash and by the time she took a 5 minute bath and changed, we already used up half an out of our time...
We assumed they would make up for this time. They did not AND they ended 10 minutes early.
Oh and the masseuse asked us if we wanted to use the relaxation centre afterwards, which the introduction said included saunas jacuzzis and all sorts of facilities... which she told my wife st the end of the session is BROKEN.
“Chill 3 day break before travelling home”
Very friendly staff, clean throughout.
Took a bit of time to find our way round

“Wonderful Family Vacation”
We just enjoyed a great 6 day stay at Slate with my two young children. The breakfast buffet is very yummy and the facilities is both unique and offers many activities for our family to enjoy. We had a family suite which met our needs perfectly. The hotel is was not overrun with large tour groups (a plus during Chinese New Year).
The staff went out of their way to meet our needs -- recognizing us by name after the first day. The concierge was very helpful in identifying the right tours for our family. And we did take advantage of a few activities offered by the Slate center -- paddleboard, bikes and waterball.
We really enjoyed that Nai Yang beach was right out side our back entrance which is a not overly developed beach area with outdoor restaurants and street vendors.
Slate is a 45 minutes taxi ride to Patong and Old Phuket so it is definitely not for those looking for active night activities. This was fine for our family situation -- there are many places to grab casual drinks at the hotel.
Overall cannot recommend Slate more and expect to be back again.
Beautiful Hotel in the quiet side of Phuket. If you are looking to stay away from all the fuss and be closer to quiet and relaxation, this is the place. Very nice touch of design (although some might need a little renovation), the hotel has a great eye for detail from customer service, to the food and interiors.
Very comfortable beds.

“Beautiful hotel. Amazing art verywhere you look. We would stay here again - 3 nights perfect! ”
Beautiful resort close to the airport so great for a few days in the way home.
“Good place to relax and unwind”
This is my 2nd time at Pearl Indigo / Slate. The place looks and feels like it was about 2 years ago when I last visited. Unique decorations around the resort. You can spend 5 days here and its not enough. Really enjoyed the infinity pool and pool bar area.
The downside is that in the pearl suite that I booked some of the windows you cannot open due to broken hinges. Some of the furniture are old and worn, the fabric seems to be washed 10000 times and losing its original color. The "free" cellphone they provide in the suite looks like some super cheap china brand toy phone that is not easy to use, (if you want to call the butler). If you run out of soap or shampoo and ask for refill the staff will look very pissed, (not sure why?)
The upside is that its next to the beach, its not crowded like Patong beach, and many seafood restaurants serving CHEAP fresh fish just outside the resort, a 5-10 mins walk away. Overall a good place for relaxation.
