A Wonderful Stay!”

It's the first time we visited Kota Kinabalu and our stay at Magellan Sutera Resort certainly made our visit there all the more enjoyable. The first time we entered our hotel room, we were surprised to find that it's very big and spacious. The toilet is clean and comes with a separate shower area and bath tub that opens out to see the room. Even though we booked a Garden Deluxe Room, our room is still able to see the sea and the beautiful sunset. That was definitely a plus point. The breakfast has a good variety. The best part was the swimming pool. It's big and not crowded. My 2 yr old son thoroughly enjoyed himself at the swimming pool. We also ordered our lunch at the pool and it was delicious. If you don't mind the cost, you must try the tableside BBQ at the Al Fresco Restaurant. For RM110, they provide a set of good starters, various types of meat barbequed for you on the spot beside your table by the restaurant staff, and a lovely desert to end off the meal, all the while admiring the romantic sunset.

Magellan Sutera Harbour”

We had a really lovely stay at the Magellan Sutera Harbour Resort in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. The staff were friendly and very helpful, they were always at hand to answer our questions. We stayed in a Garden View room, which was great, the room was always kept very clean and had all the facilities you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The recreational facilities of the hotel were also really great, there were numerous pools to choose from, as well as a private man-made beach. Being part of the Sutera Harbour resort also allowed us to use the facilities of the Little Magellan complex and the Pacific Sutera Hotel, both of which were only a short walk away.

Wonderful premium resort with friendly staff”

We stayed at Pacific Sutera for one night before going up to Mount Kinabalu and then coming back to stay at Magellan Sutera. Magellan Sutera has has a relaxing resort environment, comfortable rooms with nice views, wonderful pool and great restaurants. The beach, however, is quite small and not the powdery type, although the nice thing is that you can see beautiful fish right there. The kids' club is just beside the pool and there is an adjoining cafe where parents can have afternoon tea. The resort is in the same big compound as Pacific, and you can actually walk between the two resorts and share the facilities. Both offer free wired Internet, with wireless access only in common areas. They offer a nearly hourly shuttle bus to the city for RM3. Alternatively, taxi costs RM12.

Excellent view with abundant facilities”

in fact, the initial impression of magellan sutera for me is not very good, as there was a power cut off and we had to switch room in the middle of night. but the room is comfortable, my balcony has a sea/pool view, excellent. moreover, you will not get bored in the hotel, because together with its sister hotel "pacific sutera" and the marina club, (we haven't even visited the glof club yet) there are more than 10 resturants, 3 huge swimming area, and most importantly, you can choose whatever water activities at the marina club conveniently!!! at this moment, i also have to recommend the "sutera diving resort" located at the walkway of marina club, we have tried scuba diving the first time in our life, and it was so much fun, the instructors are professional and freindly.

the location of magellan sutera is very good,only 3mins drive to the city centre and easy to look for local food. the room is classic,clean and the swimming pool is also an attraction of the hotel. the most amazing part is the breakfast,there're so many choices of food and drinks (including italy coffee) for us. well,the service,environment,cleaniness,facilities,food and drinks are all above my expectation. it could be considered as the best 5-star hotel in kota kinabalu.

Great relaxing hotel”

We reserved for the Magellan, however, when we checked in, they said the king size bed that we book is not available. The upgrade us to their sister hotel The Pacific sutera to a one bedroom suite. The Magellan hotel lobby looks nicer and newer, we ending up stayed in The Pacific Sutera. The Pacific Sutera lobby is smaller, but the corridors to the hotel room is a bit old. The room itself is nice and clean. We had breakfast in both Magellan and Pacific and the food is about the same. There is a very small beach (probably the size of half a standard swimming pool). The harbour sutera hotel has a private port where you can easily book transfer boat to the local islands and water sports departing from the hotel. There are hotel shuttle to the city as well. There are free wifi in the room and lobby. However, it is very slow and it is not stable. Overall, i enjoy my stay and will stay with them again.

Great location, great place, great service.”

We had a great stay in Magellan Sutera for 6 days in October. THe hotel is a huge resort with lots of facilities for everyone: kids pool, olympic pool, tennis courts, gym, squash courts and so many other sports to do. Very nice decoration in colonial style (dark wood, huge lobby with big space),good service with very polite and nice staff always smiling and saluting. Family room was huge and gorgious. Kids club is really nice for children, they do lots of arts and crafts children are glad to bring back home.Prices are quite reasonable if you eat at the hotel in their restaurants (Italian, buffet or snack). Breakfast buffet had lots of choice either Asian or Western.Their cappucino was awsome. We will probably come back.

Way better than Shangrila”

I have stayed both in Magellan Sutera and Shangri-la Tanjung Aru, and Sutera was a way better choice. While i have experienced the worst service at Shangri-la(waited for a check-in for 2 hours, never been apologized, had to wait for half an hour to get a bottle of beer, waited for About 20 minutes to pay with credit card), Sutera had spacious rooms, all the staff were nice and kind, and had excellent facilities. I will definately would like to visit Sutera again. For those considering between Sutera and Shangri-la, I would say Shangri-la is not worth a consideration, just choose Sutera and visit Tanjung Aru beach at sunset hours.

Christmas 2019”

After much searching on hotels for our Christmas 2019 holiday we decided on the Magellan Sutera in KK - so glad we did we booked a Executive Suite which was like an apartments - 2 balconies, lounge room, bedroom, 2 toilets and a full bathroom, as well as a small kitchen. The best restaurant to eat in we found to be Alfresco service and choices were great and between 7-9pm each night they have a drinks package 50% discount. Den, Stanley, Emily & Michelle were amazing staff and could not do enough for you. Check in was very quick although we had to find our own room which was fine. This hotel caters more to the South Koreans but they differently look after westerners. There are 3 different complexes in this hotel as well as a harbour, golf club , cinema, bowling and much more all of which you can use as their guest. he only thing I would suggest they change for the Executive Club members is more of a drink package as there is only Tiger beer, soft drinks, gin & vodka plus wines -

Paradisal”

This is my third visit to the Magellan Sutera. I try to always stay there even if just a business trip because the views of the ocean even from inside the hotel are spectacular. The pool and lounge chairs in front of the ocean are outstanding and I love to watch the sunset at the pool facing toward the ocean. You can either sit in a lounger or have drinks at the Al Fresco. The only negative comment I have is that I did have to go to the front desk THREE times because my magnetic strip became corrupted or something which prevented me from entering my room. That was very annoying as quite a distance from my room to the front desk. Otherwise, heavenly....

We keep coming back”

We have stayed at this resort three times in 8 months, so they must be doing something right. We stayed at the Sutera Pacific once and the Magellan twice. The Magellan is newer and slightly more expensive, but both hotels and this resort are excellent. The Pacific seems to have a nicer swimming pool, but it's just a short, pleasant walk away. We had one of the best meals we have ever had at Ferdinand's. Can catch a ferry to the islands right from the hotel marina. Can't wait until the next trip!

Great place - Would definitely stay here again!”

Magellan is a great place. The pool and the grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the staff's friendliness and helpfulness is beyond reproach. Kota Kinabalu is close-by, but far enough away so that the Magellan maintains an air of seclusion. There are a lot of food choices on the property or at the nearby Pacific (sister property, I think), so if you want to spend your holiday inside the property, you'll never get bored. It's a wonderful place is all you want to do is relax by the pool, take in some sun, and unwind. I would definitely consider the Magellan again for either work or holiday.

Good Service, Envirnoment and Dining”

I was stayed in The Magellan Sutera for 2 days. My impression is good and the environment here is amazing. Even i only booked garden view room in agoda. Hotel offer me a free upgrade to sea view room. Also, the facility here is great. i was utilize 3 swimming pools and 2 beach here to enjoy my life in Magellan. The food quality here is also in a high standard. I feel so excited in staying here and will remember this resort to all my friends.

The Magellan Sutera resort has five beautiful swimming pool. Within the resort, you can also see the wonderful sunset of Kota Kinabalu. The resort is close to downtown. So you can enjoy many things outside the resort such as shopping, seafood or massage.

Excellent location, facilities and service”

We had an excellent stay at the hotel, the whole entire resort are well maintained and clean incl the rooms. Staff have natural friendliness and warmth and helpful when needed. Service can be a bit slow though but nevertheless with a smile. The resort sits at a cove with beautiful natural landscaping so you can excellent excellent view of the sunset from either the pool or the coffee shop or the lounge bar above the coffee shop. Food is excellent with choices of western and asian cuisine. The hotel is located adjacent to the Sutera Golf and Country Club as well as the Sutera Hotel. Guests can use all facilities offered by these three with four swimming pools to choose. Golfers would find the courses challenging and enjoyable at the same time. The hotel also have well maintained tennis courts, gym and children facilities. Beside the children's club, there are bowling alleys, billiard and movie nights for those older kids and biking trails. City is 5 mins away by shuttle buses that runs on a schedule offered by the resort free. There is an office by the pier which is 5 mins walking distance from the resort where guests can arrange boat trips or diving trips to the outlying islands. All in all very enjoyable and relaxing. Caution though, you may just want to extend your stay so BE STRONG.

I booked the club room sea view and was upgraded to a suite. I was very happy. The check-in process was quick. The staff were friendly and professional. The staff was good at English and Korean. Service was very good. The room was spacious, pleasant and beautiful. The sea, the scenery, the promenade and the sunset were beautiful. The pool and Italian restaurant, breakfast and club lounge were the best of all. Especially conversation with staff of bar in pool was fun. It is the best accommodation in Kota Kinabalu. I highly recommend Magellan Sutra! It was the best trip.

it is a very good place for relacing. we love all the places and facilities in Sutera Resort. As a parents of 5 and 7 years old boys, we highly recommended the child caring in Little Magellan. my sons made the handcrafts there, therefore, my husband and I could have spare time to walk around the resort. It is really so relaxing for us. And my family enjoy swimming there as there has four differnt swimming pool, my kids enjoying swimming very much. The last but not least recommendation is the private pier, we took the 32 feet speedboat to Sapi Island.

Great location, even greater facilities 🤩”

We decided to stay here for our short trip in KK as it has been quite some time for the kids to get out and play. Plus, the fact that by staying here, we could enjoy all the facilities that Sutera Harbour has to offer was definitely a major draw. Reception was a breeze, room was clean and the swimming pools won my kids’ heart 😍 Not forgetting, I totally appreciate the amount of lifeguards around, you guys are heroes 🤩 In addition, the breakfast spread was superb in my books. I would definitely stay here again, kudos to the whole crew of The Magellan Sutera 👏👏👏

Very very good”

This was my 4th stay at Sutera Harbour and my 2nd stay at Magellan. Honestly, I prefer Magellan better than the Pacific but both are great. I love the room. It’s nicely decorated. Love the swimming pool too. The beach is beautiful. The water is crystal clear and you can see fishes swimming about. I love how fast the room was available for us and how their staff able to locate us in a very strategic room-very near to the swimming pool and just walking distance to the Marina club. We played bowling (after 8 pm its cheaper) at the Marina club. The pastries at Muffinz cafe are delicious. The breakfast buffet this time around serves better menu and food. Planning another stay in early March for my girl’s birthday. Looking forward to it

Nice big room, clean with great amenities”

We stayed at the Magellan Sutera for 2 nights, but only had 1 full day. Our room was nice and big yet cozy, the pool and the ocean was divided by beach chairs to just relax, and just the general resort was the perfect relaxing weekend getaway. Some less impressive parts - the massage we had at the Spa was average, and the food was rather expensive and not the tastiest ever. But overall, we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and will definitely go back!
