Relax in Chiang Mai”
Tamarind Village was highly recommended by friends, as was booking the Lanna Deluxe rooms for additional space and light. However, the twin bedded rooms are not much bigger than the regular Lanna rooms, book a double with King sized bed for up to 50% more space! I questioned the room sizes with the staff towards the end of my stay and could have chosen an alternate room if available. This was the first boutique hotel in Chiang Mai and so the character of the courtyards dictates the room sizes - ask ahead of booking or for the possibility of a change upon arrival if necessary. Altogether the experience of staying at Tamarind Village was a very positive one. The spa is very good and staff are very helpful. The space around the pool is narrow but this didn't seem to be a problem - there is so much to do in Chiang Mai and environs most people are out all day. The hotel is centrally located within the old city walls so there is lots to see within walking distance and the main shopping areas are not far away. The hotel is well known by taxis and tuk tuk drivers. We privately hired our airport taxi driver for 6 hours (800 baht) rather than use the hotel driver (1700 baht). The hotel staff were also very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and sourcing specific shopping items within the city which helped tremendously. We will stay again and relax more next time!

End Your Search Here”
I live in Chiang Mai, my mom recently visited for the first time and I wanted to make sure she left wanting to come back. The Tamarind Village Hotel was a HUGE factor in the success of her visit. The staff go above and beyond. The staff at Tamarind Village make you feel welcome and part of a community from the moment you begin your stay. I truly cannot say enough kind words about the staff. One staff member in particular, Candy, showed us to our room and she was inviting and funny! Every week the hotel offers free daily cultural activities - Candy took us on a temple tour, she is incredibly knowledgable of the area, can speak multiple languages, and is clearly passionate about what she does. I go that feeling from the full staff; they all seem to love what they do, Chiang Mai, and the Tamarind Village Hotel. The room was beautiful, restaurant was great, and the pool was relaxing. If you stay anywhere but here you're making a mistake. Five stars.

Tranquility in the City!”
Tamarind Village was perfect for us. We had a wonderful 3 day weekend, choosing this hotel because of a friend's recommendation. The architecture and decor is so interesting and comfortable. We appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel very much and how quiet and peaceful it was even though we were in the middle of the city. The food was excellent. We had breakfast in the morning and dinner a couple of evenings . When we asked for a fan near our table to keep the mosquitoes away - it was no problem. The staff seemed very available to help at all times. We asked to hire a guide for the day and the staff found us an excellent guide and driver from a tour service who was simply marvelous. She was knowledgeable and kind, happy to provide us with a tour we were interested in, not just the standard tours. We also had a massage (90 minutes) on our last morning; a special treat for our muscles tired from our walking and zipling in the jungle. It was such a splendid way to complete our trip. I have since recommended this hotel to about 10 couples in our expat community who hope to visit Chiang Mai in the future. If we visit Chiang Mai again, we will definitely plan to stay at Tamarind Village. Thanks for making our weekend so special.

An oasis in the Old City”
We loved our stay at Tamarind Village. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is helpful and attentive, and the rooms were well-decorated, though not much sunlight and limited privacy. We did have a pleasant little balcony opening onto the main courtyard though. Breakfast was splendid with many juices, beautiful fruits, delicious omlettes and porridge. The location cannot be beat and you have a sense of calm and privacy because of the way the hotel is secluded back from the road. We were there during the Sunday walking market and it was great to have such easy access but to feel isolated from it at the end of our night. After 3 nights we moved to another hotel in Chiang Mai to experience a stay outside the city and ended up wishing we had stayed at Tamarind for another 3 nights. You can stay in the heart of the Old City and it feels as if you're miles away!

Great location, Beautiful hotel and friendly staff.”
Staying at the Tamarind Village Hotel was one of the highlights of my partner and I's holiday in Thailand. The location was perfect, being right in the heart of the Old City with the Sunday Night Market right on our doorstep, yet walking down the bamboo lined entrance made it feel like we were somewhere else completely. Our room was great, as was the food at the restaurant and the staff were very friendly, polite and professional. The wifi here was also good with zero problems staying connected. Looking forward to staying here again on our next trip to Chiang Mai.

quiet and secluded hotel with a great restaurant”
staying at tamarind village was a lovely way to experience the old city of chiang mai. the secluded bamboo shaded driveway is a really a nice welcome. the hotel has a lovely rustic feel and the greenery of the gardens and around the swimming pool is relaxing and soothing. the lanna deluxe room was comfortable but there were no windows to be opened and as there were mosquitoes the doors didn't have screens so once in the room there was no outside light or fresh air coming in. but if you are only going to sleep there its not a problem. the restaurant was fine dining with some great selections and a lovely view overlooking the pool. breakfast was not extensive but adequate. location is perfect walking distance to many wats and second hand bookshops and restaurants. i would go stay there again.

Impeccable”
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Chiang Mai. The hotel is well located in the Old City, yet feels like a quiet retreat. The service was impeccable and they went above and beyond to accommodate any request, including providing us with a boxed breakfast when we left for a tour before the buffet started one morning. Our included breakfast was lovely and the rooms were outstanding. Tamarind Village had the most comfortable bed of our entire stay in Thailand!

Beautiful oasis in the centre of Chiang Mai”
my husband and i loved our stay at tamarind village - staff were extremely friendly, our room was beautiful and well appointed, and we loved the calm setting in the middle of chiang mai. it was so lovely to come back to the village at the end of a long day of sight-seeing, and we looked forward to enjoying drinks by the pool after dinner by candlelight. i enjoyed a thai massage at the wonderful hotel day spa & loved not having to leave the hotel grounds. we cannot recommend this hotel enough, we will definitely be back next time we're in chiang mai.

Impeccable Experience”
Tamarind hotel was located in the center of the Old City, which is very convenient to the famous Sunday Night Market and almost everywhere in Chiang Mai. Although the hotel is small but it was the overall atmosphere that attracts people to visit again and again. My stay in Tamarind Village was worth a 5-star rating and I will recommend to all my friends who will be travelling to Chiang Mai.

A little paradise in the center of old town”
My husband and I absolutely enjoyed staying in Tamarind village. The best feature of the hotel is location. It is literally in the middle of old city but you can still enjoy its peaceful serenity. Best of all, we could just walk back to hotel and jump into cool swimming pool whenever the weather got too hot. Chiang Mai's excellent Sunday market is right outside, which we enjoyed very much. We will definately stay again when we visit Chiang Mai next time.

Quiet oasis in the heart of the old city”
The Tamarind Village hotel is right in the centre of old Chiang Mai, with easy access to all the city has to offer. The beautiful Lanna style buildings, mixed with mature trees and bamboo, make for a lovely setting. The Lanna Deluxe room was a good size, with all the usual facilities you'd expect in a 4 star hotel. The restaurant was good and the breakfast had a decent choice. The few lunches and one dinner we had were also good quality and tasty. All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you want a quiet hotel in a lovely setting.

Splendid Boutique hotel!”
Tamarind Village is perfect hotel to visit and relax Chiang Mai in a charming boutique hotel. I have been several times to Chiang Mai, and in my view this it the best boutique hotel there for that range of prices. Location is perfect, and staff very friendly. The place is amazingly natural and quiet for that location: you are in the center of Chiang Mai but still surrounded by giant trees and temples. Lovely place for couples or families.

Beautiful Old Town Oasis”
The location for Tamarind Village is fantastic- a little oasis nestled in the middle of the old town. The hotel seems to be fully booked most of the time, so the staff (front desk, especially) do seem very busy... The breakfast is good, but not exceptional. The food quality is high, and the staff are very accommodating if you have special requests. The buffet just won't likely be the most memorable part of your stay. (Thai service is generally always fabulous, so still keep your hopes high!) My favorite aspect was probably the room itself- so much character, and very unique. I loved that a Lanna story was left on the bed during ever turn-down service. Overall, this hotel was excellent- great if you are able to afford a more luxurious Chiang Mai experience! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. :)

Low key luxury in the heart of Chiang Mai”
Tamarind Village is great hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai. It's older and less in your face than many uber-trendy offerings, but in many ways is all the better for that. The place feels lived in, comfortable and very relaxing. The garden areas are built around wonderful old trees, rooms are comfortable (balcony rooms at least), food is great and the staff very friendly. My daughter had a great time in the pool, catching butterflies, spying on lizards and running away from a snake.

Excellent Location”
My husband and I spent two nights at Tamarind Village. The hotel is a little oasis in the heart of the Old Town. Within easy walking distance of many sights and restaurants. The staff are friendly and attentive. The buffet breakfast is good - lots of selections! While we saw several families with young children, I am not sure we would stay here with our boys. There is a very peaceful atmosphere, which I am sure they would shatter! We both did a spa treatment, which was good. As always the prices in the hotel are much higher than what you can get at one of the local places in town - however the atmosphere may not be match! The hotel was fantastic and we would stay again. The only thing to be aware of is that the buildings are wooden and if you stay on the bottom floor, you will hear people going up and down the stairs. We did not find this disruptive, but perhaps some would.

A gorgeous oasis in the middle of Chiang Mai Old Town”
Tamarind Village is a lovely boutique hotel in the middle of Chiang Mai. The whole property is tastefully designed and serene. We enjoyed relaxing by the pool after long days out and about. The food in the restaurant was good - both breakfast (included) and dinner. At breakfast you could get proper coffee made to order (e.g. latte). The rooms were a little small but a result of the overall design of the hotel. We would stay here again in a heartbeat for the right price.

Charming escape from the bustle of Chiang Mai”
nestled not too far from the busy thapae gate on the east side of chiang mai's old city, is a quiet getaway called tamarind village. built around a 200-year old tamarind tree, the hotel grounds are charming and relaxing while being on a small enough scale to feel like the staff knows and recognizes you. the interior of the rooms are pleasant but simple, like something you would find in a small country village. we did notice that some neighborhood dogs like to howl from time to time, but this thankfully only happened during the day. otherwise, the stay was very pleasant.

Would definitely come again and recommend.”
Tamarind had lots of in-house activities for their guests like a village walk in the morning and daily creative activities in the courtyard. The ambience of the hotel and room (esp. at night) was so cozy and nice it was really relaxing just to roam around the hotel premises. I came on my birthday and the staff treated me with a surprise birthday gift upon checkout! It was a pleasant surprise, just like my stay :) If I come back to Chiang Mai I would definitely come to Tamarind, and definitely recommend to anyone who's going!

Simply awesome”
Our stay at the Tamarind Village was so enjoyable that none of us wanted to leave. We travelled through Thailand as two families and the Tamarind Village was a favourite with us all. The location was excellent. The staff were incredibly friendly. The food superb- especially the buffet breakfast, easy access to transport, shopping, sights to see, markets and food. Highly recommend The Tamarind Village and I would definitely stay there again when back in Chiang Mai.

Excellent hotel with impeccable service”
we loved everything about our stay at tamarind village! the staff was very attentive and helped us with everything we asked about. the staff and service at the spa was wonderful. of course there are cheaper options in the area, but the skill of our therapists and the relaxation of just ambling back to our room afterward were worth it. the setting of tamarind village is just about perfect - peaceful courtyards, pool area, and restaurant give some respite from the old city right outside. only complaint some people might have (but weren't issues for us): rooms are a bit small, and the bathroom is only separate from room by saloon type doors (no real privacy).
