Unique Veggie Resort”

I was more than thrilled to find a vegetarian resort online recently and quickly added Chiang Mai to my itinerary. I was collected from the airport by a friendly staff member in a clean air-conditioned car and checked-in seamlessly to my deluxe room. My large room was beautifully decorated with accents of indigo and teak. One of the biggest highlights was having a fantastic vegan breakfast every day (vegetarian options are also available) where the changing selection allows you to sample their varied lunch and dinner menu. Service is always provided with the characteristic friendly Thai smile and hospitality and the management were open to suggestions (eg the kitchen were happy to label the items as vegan/vegetarian). I would highly recommend the resort, whether you vegetarian or not!

Excellent resort ”

The Away resort is ideally located just on the outskirts of the old city. It's an easy stroll to the Thapae gate. The resort itself is well managed and maintained. All the staff that we had contact with were professional, courteous, friendly and eager to help. We had a pool access room which was large enough not to feel cramped in and was well appointed. We enjoyed the breakfasts, plenty of variety. We also dined at the restaurant where we enjoyed the meal so much we booked a cooking class with chef Oi. We read one review where the writer stated the restaurant lacked atmosphere. This may have been the case for that reviewer, but in our opinion the food outshines any perceived lack of atmosphere completley. We would urge people not to be put off by a lack of diners, this in no way reflects on the quality and variety of the dishes. The Away being a vegetarian based resort is certainly well worth a stay and for us will be a repeat stay in the future. Peter & Kay

Wonderful vegetarian hotel”

We very much enjoyed our six days at Away Chiang Mai Thapae. The hotel was nestled in a neighborhood that ended up being a quick walk to a number of spots (including Sunday walking market). Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Nice to start our day with a vegan breakfast. We also did a cooking class which was fun.

Amazing hotel and staff!”

I spent new years 2018 at this spanking new hotel. It is clean, well furnished and the beds are very comfortable. Staff were very kind and friendly especially the night guard Alex, and all staff at the reception, particularly Chawit and Film. It is walking distance from Tha Phae Gate, the Sunday night market and old town. There is a fabulous cafe for breakfast called The Garden Cafe just around the corner from the hotel....do not miss the breakfast at this cafe! Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chiang Mai...you just can't go wrong with this one! Thanks for the wonderful stay!!!

Amazing!”

If you are considering Away Chiang Mai Thapae, just do it! This hotel just opened and is clean and fresh. We had a standard king room. The bathrooms were beautiful, with a balcony view of the pool. Robes, slippers, rain shower head, the works. The staff are extremely friendly and warm. The vegetarian food is delicious, we ordered from the restaurant several times, although it is definitely more expensive than any street food you will find, that is to be expected and it is definitely worth it. We will be back!! :)

Go there if you are a vegan/vegetarian”

Newly opened just 10 days before we checked in the hotel had not dissapointed us. Built jn unique Lanna style architecture and boasting calming and stylish interior, I especially liked the color scheme. The breakfasts were superb, but I wish the kitchen could be more inventuve in their recipes, you can make so many more delicious vegan dishes. Although they serve milk, it is claimed vegetarian. you. can find plenty to eat as a vegan. A la carte menue I found a bit over priced but the presentation and staff attitude is nice. Maybe they could offer some light wines in their restaurant, or maybe it is an intention to make a stay try healthy and relaxing. The pool access room is so comfy even you dont use the pool, we never used it as it was 10degrees outside. The concierge is overly helpful and reception ladies are very friendly as they used their phones to book uber/grab drive. The location is away from noisy street but a nice 5 min stroll from Tha pae road. Peaceful and clean location

Great Room and Great People”

Oh my, this place is like heaven! The rooms were so clean and cherry, as well as most functional! The big shower with multiple shower heads delightful. Close to the walled City and the staff were all amazing. Ms Cake was there to cater to our every question, Mr Chawit was always willing to help find things we could not. Mr Suntam was there at night as the guard and always eager to chat and visit and Mr Alex proved that Thailand is the LOS nation. The folks in the restaurant would see me coming three times a day for ice and always had it ready with a smile. WE would stay here again and recommend to everyone! hotel in paradise ”

I absolutely loved this hotel. the exterior of the hotel is absolutely stunning, and the hotel room is so modern. the beds were comfortable and it had a beautiful bathroom and lovely furniture. the staff at the hotel were very friendly and went out of their way to help you and meet your needs. They spoke very good English too. it has a lovely pool which I maxed around at a lot. I was not so crazy when I saw that it was a vegan/vegetarian hotel but surprisingly the food was actually quite nice. I didn't feel like I was eating vegan food, which is great. hotel was quiet and relaxing too. No smoking and alcohol is not served on the premises, which makes it like a detox retreat. the hotel is amazing I would Definitely come back.

Gorgeous and quiet property to rest and recharge”

We regret to have stayed only one night at this wonderfully peaceful hotel where vegetarian concept also means no bar or alcoholic drinks served which certainly makes it stand out in the crowd as it will never become a hotel of choice for rowdy backpackers and thrill seeking adventure hunters. We loved the beautifully styled washrooms with mosaic floors, hot rain shower and bathtub that easily fits two, and a balcony where we enjoyed watching the sunrise in the morning overlooking the outdoor pool and garden from the 4th floor. The rooms are just big enough to give a feel of luxury of space. There is a free minibar selection though nothing we would enjoy from an array of sodas, and a welcome treat from the restaurant which certainly serves delicious food though we haven't had a chance to try it as we stick to fruit only. Speaking of, we could only wish there was more local produce on the morning breakfast buffet selection which we found rather limited and had to ask staff to bring out something extra from the kitchen to make us feel a bit less disappointed. When will Asian hotels recognise the value of their local produce and stop serving absolutely tastless commercial fruit from overseas such as table grapes from Australia or South Africa? Being in Thailand a few slices of papaya, mango and watermelon is a must - really more important than 3 types of bread rolls or cereals!!! And no, crunchy guava and unripe pineapple does not count, sorry. Other than that, the service team was super friendly and accomodating. They helped us with arranging transportation on several occasion and we were escorted to the room by a friendly front desk staff upon check in which is always a nice touch. Those who seek a prime location while still enjoying the back alley serenity of a village-like neighborhood will surely find this place a perfect spot while visiting Chiang Mai. We would return if opportunity comes!

Great location - NOT great food”

I chose this place primarily due to its location and price. Also the pics of the room made the hotel look very appealing. Overall, I really enjoyed this hotel. The location really is fantastic. A 5 minute walk to the Old city west gate and about 10 minutes to the night market. However, the food...was a let down. I've been a vegan for about a year and I've been learning how to make plant-based food that is still enjoyable and flavorful. Considering this place advertises itself as a vegetarian retreat, I figured it would do the food well. However most of the food was bland. This especially stood out in a city where vegan/vegetarian options are offered at almost every restaurant...and most of these places were WAY better than the hotel advertising itself as such. Note: we only had breakfast here. We didn't bother eating other meals as the food in the morning was a letdown. You will enjoy this hotel...just skip the breakfast or prepare yourself for a dull morning bite.

Amazing place. I walked in and felt like I was in a different world. Everything is meticulously designed and maintained. I love the concept of a vegetarian retreat too; for once, I didn't have to worry about any of the food ingredients. The food was also delicious! All the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make our stay the best possible. I highly recommend this hotel and restaurant for anyone looking for a relaxing time in Chiang Mai.

Great view and close to city centre!”

We booked the room with direct access to the pool. We love the view so much. Very clean and quiet tho it is just a 5-minute walk to the Tha Phae Gate. And it is super convenient since there are many 24-hours restaurants and massage centres around the resort. Overall, it is super nice staying here and I will definitely recommend it.

Excellent Location, Experience, Value”

I got the package without breakfast, which was fine because food is so readily available and cheap there. My airport transfer was swift and not outrageously priced (though more than Grab taxi). The staff couldn’t have been nicer. I received a free upgrade to my room upon arrival because it was low season. The cleaning service was good, and the room was lovely. Highly recommend if you’re in Chiang Mai! It’s a 5 min walk to the Old City, which is just far enough removed to be quiet and just close enough to be super convenient. 10/10 would stay again.

A tranquil hotel 깨끗하고 조용한 호텔”

타패 메인에서 한골목 떨어져 조용하고 깨끗한 호텔. 생각보다 넓고 테라스도 있고 좋아서 3일 더 연장했다. 너무 좋은 호텔이라 부디 중국인 관광객들이 알아채지 않았으면 좋겠지만 이미 시작된 듯 ㅜㅜ 그래도 접근성도 좋고 조용하고 깨끗하고 그렇게 시끄러운 중국가족이 옆방에 묵었는데도 잘 잘수있었던걸 보면 정말 방음잘되고 친절하고 별점을 뺄수 없는 호텔이다. 한가지 아주 조금 아쉬운 점은 가끔 물온도가 오락가락한다는 건데 치앙마이에서 뜨신물 이정도로 잘나오면 좋은 거라 생각됨. This is totally hidden gem in Thapae area. Just about one block away from main street, all travel spot in old town is within walking distance. Staffs were kind, helping in every details. This hotel just opened about a month ago, all facilities are new, soundproofing in the room is great, super clean and large room, only issue is about unstable water temperature, but it's really bearable. It does get hot, but just temperature is moving around a bit so it worked for me.

Brand new charming hotel ; wonderful stay”

Brand new charming hotel located in the back streets of the center of Chiang Mai, yet perfectly positioned to be close by to all the action. Really super nice and modern rooms with private balcony; and with an ultra comfy bed. Very friendly staff always here to help, you really feel special as a guest. Liked the swimming pool too which is truly a lap pool. We could not find any faults, just perhaps that the lights could be dimmed in the common area. I would recommend the hotel to anyone without any hesitation

New hotel which located nearby Thapae and Walking street. Great interior design both in the room and hotel lobby. High internet speed with no limit of device. Vegetarian foods taste superb. The hotel staff also nice and kind.

Clean, nice staff, food is good”

Even i’m not vegan, but the food is good. Suggest to use Tha Pae soi 5 entrance instead of Kotchasarn Lane 1 Alley (near McDonald’s) side because it will be a bit scary from main road to hotel in the night, but overall is safe and looks very good. The room has just about right wind chill and good sunlight.

I loved it being a vegetarian kitchen as it is hard to find halal food in chiang mai. Staff was very kind and helpful. Clean hotel, no bugs or mosquitos

Retreat in City”

Enjoyable stay! Friendly & polite staffs at reception, we arrived a bit early but the rooms are already ready. welcome drink is special. Nice design & deco, we love the room with pool access! room is spacious, clean and bed is comfortable. breakfast is vegan, there's wide selection on drinks/ juice/ detox water/ almond milk.... everything is good. pool is nice and we took many photos here. hotel location is quiet but still walk-able to main gate & old town.
