“Unexpectedly strategic location”
The location of this homestay was a pleasant surprise! I was not expecting it to be so close to every destination that we wanted to visit in Chiang Rai. Our trip included Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Krabi. We always booked in the town proper to make sure we will be close to everything. But in Chiang Rai, we decided to book far from the city center and into the outskirts in exchange for a quieter, more private, and relaxing villa which Bambuh certainly was. Because of the trade off, I was expecting it will be an effort to get to the main Tourist attractions but this was not the case at all. Within a 10km radius, we visited 5 main locations within 8 hours on bicycles provided by Bambuh for free. This was what we did within 8 hours on a bicycle: - Baan dam museum (1.8km from Bambuh) - Blendsook Cafe (2.7km from Baan Dam) - Doy din dang pottery (3km from Blendsook) - Long neck karen (1km from Doy Din) - Baan likhai (10km from Long Neck) - Back to Bambuh 9.7km (from Baan Likhai) Of course, you can do all these on a Motorcycle to make things easier and faster. Bambuh also rents our motorcycles. We just like sweating 🤣 The next day, we just took a Grab to the town proper to visit the White and Blue temple and the famous Chivit Thamma Da Cafe and the night market. It was about 100-150 baht for each Grab ride. On the 3rd day, we rented a private car to go to Pha Hee village and Choui Fong tea plantation which were both actually closer to get to from Bambuh compared to if you stayed in the town center. On the fourth day, we spent it cycling around the neighborhood which was a really nice experience. The neighborhood gives you a local countryside feel and surprisingly, there’s plenty of really good cafes and local street food around. I recommend Ruk Raek Cafe. I also recommend going to the local market around 5pm for a variety of wonderful local Thai street food. Recommend to everyone!
