Chiang Mai Orchid still a great hotel”
We have been staying at the Chiang Mai Orchid for 15 years or so...perhaps 12-14 times with and without accompanying friends and never sorry. As is usual the higher the floor the better the room and higher the price . The top floor rooms all have lovely balconies overlooking the city. The hotel is located on Huay Keau Road within 500 meters of the wall and moot. The TOPS shoppng mall next door is modern, clean and cheap and has a good food vendor court and an excellent grocery store.

Big old hotel with full facilities”
Chiang Mai Orchid is one of the oldest big hotel in the city. Its location is convenient for me who has business to do with Chiang Mai University but for most tourists, it might be more convenient to stay over the Nimanhemin Road for your night shopping/dining. Although the room and facility look a little too aged, the hotel is very big and they have pretty much most things we need....it is just not in the most stylish way as many other smaller boutique hotels in Chiang Mai will offer. But the hotel restaurant offered a very nice local food in a very reasonable price. The breakfast buffet was also nice. In conclusion, although this place might be old and does not offer the fancy look to the visitor, it is clean and convenient.

Location, location, location”
the chiang mai orchid hotel is not a new hotel by any means,but it is maintained to a high standard and the rooms have recently been renovated. the very nice breakfast,served buffet style, includes excellent coffee. the neighborhood of the hotel includes a variety of restaurants and cafes, an internet bar,a department store and a first class hospital where english as well as thai is spoken. the hotel provides transport to the airport for a nominal fee which is an added plus.

Very good value for the money”
Chiang Mai is full of lower-cost hotels, but many are dumps. Chiang Mai Orchid hotel is just fine, and a great value in my opinion. Our basic superior room was large, beds comfortable but pillows are average, and reliable wi-fi but needing frequent re-login. The bathroom is clean enough but not pristine, water pressure is real good, and hot water is not a problem at all during long showers! The basic buffet breakfast that came with our room was a step up over most lower-cost hotels - with actually quite nice multi-grain bread for toast, yoghurt, musli, and the usual a variety of Asian vegetable dishes and stir-fry, and soups. Coffee is good and strong, and fresh milk was always on the buffet table. A very large pool looked great, but I somehow did not get to use it. My bad. The location right next to the huge Kad Suan Keow plaza is also a big plus in my opinion - you can find Starbuck, Pizza Company, Black Canyon Coffee and other chains there plus the inevitable massage services, gadget shops, handicrafts, a basic local food court, and a full supermarket. Staff throughout the building seemed pretty friendly and helpful when something is requested. We would stay here again, and probably will.

Orchid Hotel - Chiang Mai”
The Orchid Hotel in Chiang Mai is great. Good food, clean, the understated decor, photos in lobby give one a feel for its majestic proportions. The traditional live music played by gentle folk adds to the ambiance of the foyer and relaxes one instantly. The Spa next door is wonderful for a massage. The staff in the lobby and reception go out of their way to accommodate one's wishes and arrange sight-seeing tours with ease. Thank you.

Fantastic downtown hotel with great location”
I had wonderful trip to Chiang Mai due to the proper Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel selected from Agoda. This hotel is old but the room is very clean and friendly & smiling staff even thought some are not fluent in English. Good location with big hypermarket at side, make the me easy to find food and grocery.

To stay at orchid chiang mai hotel was a great experience. The room was great, very clean, and everything was working properly. The breakfast had lots of options - one of the bests I have ever had. The people who work there very lovely and willing always to help. The hotel is in a wonderful localization, next to a very good shopping center, starbucks...The swimming pool, the fitness center also great...I really don not have anything bad to say about...everything was just fine, fine, fine...

Excellent location and amenities”
The Chiang Mai Orchid is an excellent value for price, amenities and location. Although the rooms have not been renovated recently, they are kept immaculately clean and the service of the hotel staff is friendly and efficient. They have one of Chiang Mai's best pools both for lounging and exercising!

Great service - can be improved ”
staff was very helpful and friendly. Ordered some food in the Mae Rim restaurant and the waiter flooded me with complimentary food and drinks. Counter staff was concerned that they didn't have a room ready for me and provided me with wifi and luggage drop services. my only complain - I requested to check in early on the website. I arrived at 8am and was told I will only get a room in the afternoon. I was traveling over night and was desperate for a place to sleep. The website or the hotel could inform me early if early rooms are not available. Will still definitely return to Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel when I return to Chiang Mai.

An Excellent Stay”
I recently stayed at the Orchid Hotel in Chiang Mai and it was excellent, from check in with a most corteous welcome, through to a lovely executive room - do ask for one of these, through to a lovely breakfast. Nice swimming pool and excellent convenient location. In all, this hotel has my support and I will be staying again in an executive room.

Great hotel for the price. ”
Staff are excellent, swimmimg pool is great, also well located for easy access to all the main spots in chiang mai. Rooms are fine, basic as expected for price, only negative was the bathroom a bit tatty but that didnt bother me personally, all in all a great place to stay and if i return to chiang mai (which is pretty much nailed on as its a great city) then the chiang mai orchid is where i will be staying.

3rd Stay at a decent hotel with good beds”
Location was the primary consideration in choosing the Chiang Mai Orchid, but the hotel is very nice. The styling is classic - lots of wood - and in good condition. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are decent size, the internet is fast and reliable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

central and close to all amenities”
The Orchid is very good value for money. Especially in the low season (up to October 31), when it is only $26 per night. This is really very good value for a hotel in this central position for this part of Chiang Mai. The staff were unfailingly friendly. I often wonder, though, at how tired they must be when some of them are employed merely to open and close doors. I tend to tip well in Thailand, since I can guess how low the wages of staff must be.

Excellent location”
I stay here on all my visits to Chiang Mai. It is close to most of the things you will ever want to do in CM. Next door to the excellent mall Khad Suan Kaew. Close to Ram Hospital. Close to many many excellent coffee shops, and close to massage places and the really really excellent Nimmanhemin district. Hotel has very adequate breakfasts. Good swimming pool. Nice coffee bar in lobby. Rooms are a bit faded, but this hotel is nevertheless very good value for money.

I have stayed in the Chiang Mai Orchid 5 or 6 times in the last 2 years. I find the staff to be the most friendly and accomodating of any of the hotels I stay at in Thailand. The location is very convenient and the overall experience is superior. Prices seem to vary according to season and (maybe?) Thai holidays or city events.

Always a great place to stay”
the chiang mai orchid is always a great place to stay when you are in chiang mai. this was our 5th time and although the rooms are a little tied the service and location are fantastic. next door is possibly the best shopping center in thailand with heaps of food stores and good shops for cloths. quite often the will be night markets out front next door and there are some good family clean massage places in the shops as well.

Nice, older hotel, good service, beds & location”
Check-in was easy (they do require a print-out of voucher). They are flexible and willing to do what is necessary to set things right even when due to miscommunication or misunderstanding on part of the guest. The rooms are decent size, nice bathrooms, clean, and beds are firm, but comfortable. The breakfast is good. The hotel is older, but still very nice, and a real bargain. The hotel is located right next door to Central Plaza mall and on the edge of the Old City and Chiang Mai University areas. I liked this hotel and will stay here again if I need to be in this area.

Great Location”
Overall I would still recommend people to stay in Chiang Mai Orchid, it's has shopping mall and restaurants right within walking distance. Highly recommend for first time visitors, where you don't need a map for your first night! Also 10 minutes walking distance can take you to one of the nice silk market on Nimmana Haeminda, worth to give it a try.

My stay at Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel”
I had stayed at another hotel previously and they charged for WIFI..The orchid does not charge! The hotel is a short distance from night bazaar or the night life but it is easy to get to with tuk tuk. I live in Chiang Dao which is 80kms north and I will go to chiang mai 2 weekends a month and my plans will be to continue staying at the Orchid Hotel..It met all my needs.
