Chaingmai Gate Hotel”
Chiangmai Gate Hotel was a real gem. Situated just outside the Chiangmai Gate - it was conveniently located for visiting the old city (just far enough away from the 'touristy, girly-bar' area for us). Very pleasant staff, lovely large room with balcony. The hotel was very clean. The a/c was a welcome relief after a hard day's shopping. The swimming pool was also fantastic for cooling down. The inclusive buffet breakfast was the best - great eggs & fresh coffee. Overall, by far the nicest of the two hotels we have stayed in in Chiang Mai for the same price.

Nice surprise”
We weren't expecting too much because of disappointments from previous trips to Thailand. We have stayed in hotels with poor service, dirty rooms, and high prices, but not this time. Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is very clean and the staff are all friendly. Our room was spacious and neat. The swimming pool was one of the cleanest I have seen in Thailand. (Most are dirty and smell of chlorine) As you know, most breakfasts served in Asian hotels leave much to be desired, but not here. The buffet breakfast was one of the best I have ever seen in a mid price range hotel. The coffee was excellent and were the eggs cooked to order. They also served warm pancakes! We will definitely return.

We always enjoy our stays at this hotel”
We have stayed at the Chiang Mai Gate Hotel many times over the last 9 years. The hotel is as good now as it always has been. We prefer to have a room in the Chatree Wing which is a newer building adjoining the original hotel -- the rooms are just better and tastefully decorated. Breakfast is excellent which I believe is very important ( especially on my day of departure because I have a 900km drive ahead of me ). The staff are friendly, communicative and helpful. A slight moan is the size of the carpark -- way too small for the number of rooms and this time, our travelling friends had a not-too-good experience when they booked a VIP bus trip to Bangkok. 600 baht per person seemed too good to be true. It was. The bus was not the VIP bus pictured, instead an older bus whose a/c didn't work and when it rained en route, the roof leaked. I do not know if the tour desk is staffed by hotel personnel or outside staff but we are considering following this up with a call to the management.

Very nice hotel, fantastic location”
we really enjoyed our stay in chaing mai, and our experience at the chiang mai gate hotel only added to the enjoyment. we booked this hotel because it was recommended to us by friends and it was a good recomendation. our room was very large and very clean and comfortable, the staff were fantastically helpfull and did everything that they could to assist you. the location couldnt be better, you are only a couple of minutes walk from the chaing mai gate and, everywhere was within a reasonable walking distance. we would highly recommend this hotel and if we were to return to chaing mai in the future would definately use it again.

Lovely place with good service and nice rooms.”
The Chiang Mai Gate Hotel was a great jumping off point for our explorations of the old city. The staff were always eager to help us find whatever we were looking for and provided a nice little map. The rooms and bathrooms were pleasant, comfortable, spacious clean and carpeted. We will definitely stay there again if we return to Chiang Mai. The breakfast included was varied and tasty, although a little limited for vegetarians like us - but hey, thats Thailand for you.

vancouver, canada, to chaing mai”
Our stay at the Chaing Mai Gate hotel was pleasant. A little confusing was the ranking of the rooms, as we had a superior room, and assumed this was the most comfortable, and largest. We viewed a standard room which seemed larger, was carpeted, and the bathroom looked a bit bigger. Not a big deal though. We loved our room. The breakfast was okay, but repetative. But the fact that it was buffet style, the first meal of the day, and allowed guests to return often made it a bargain regardless. The hotel was well-located in regards to access to most areas of Chaing Mai. Taxis and Tuk-Tuks were always available to us. And our fellow guests were quiet, considerate people, which allowed us to de-stress from our job pressure at home.

A nice hotel for relaxation”
I recommend that chiangmai gate hotel is your best choice when you come to Chinagmai. It offers you best accommadation, serene atmosphere, clean environment at a very resonable low price. Especially, it locates just between the airport and the old city. you can get anywhere within walking distance. Besides enjoying the convenient the city offers you, you can even get a real feeling of rural life.

Pleasant stay”
Check in was easy with presentation of the agoda voucher, and we were happy to be informed that out room had been upgraded. The room was tastefully decorated, however the bathroom was very small. The pool and outdoor area was very nice. Breakfast was included in the price of the room and was of a good standard. Hotel was within walking distance to the Chiang Mai Gate and surrounding area. Excellent value for money overall.

Chiangmai Gate Hotel”
Great location and a nice, friendly hotel. Only a 3 minute walk from Chiang Mai gate. Staff were very helpful and the facilities were in the main very good. The food in the restaurant was of reasonably good quality and price, breakfast offered a wide range of foods all nice and fresh. I'll be revisiting Chiang Mai for sure and would certainly stay at this hotel again. The rooms are nicely appointed, clean and have all the modern touches with a nice rustic feel. I felt it was good value for money.

Exceptional”
Stayed for a few nights before going up to Chiang Rai. First impression so good booked for another week when we returned. Location, location. location if you like close to shopping, markets, food, massage, 7 elevens and other interesting places. Walk to the markets, museum and cultural centres. 5mins from Chiang Mac Gate. Great staff, only marked the facilities down a little as no one seems to use the dining and bar so can be a little slow in delivery. Probably not even fair to fault that, Tours and taxis arranged easily if you wish. Third visit to Chiang Mai, so like to walk with the locals, and this is the best stay in a hotel by far.

Chiang Mai Gate”
We booked this hotel having never been to Chiang Mai before and were not disappointed. The hotel is located about 5 minutes walk from the City walls (southern gate) and there are great amenities all within a 10 minute walk - including a brilliant night food market which served authentic local thai food and was really cheap! The rooms in the hotel, the lobby and the restaurant were all spotless and the decor in the rooms was also a real feature (traditional Lanna thai style). The only downside (if there is one!) is that our balcony overlooking the pool area had no table or chairs to use/sit at. Highly recommended for a good value good location hotel.

Great stay on a budget”
My wife and I typically switch hotels a lot when we're on a trip because we think we'll keep finding better things, but when we got to Chiang Mai Gate Hotel we changed our booking from 2 nights to 5 because we knew right away that it was just right! We've lived in Asia for 4 years and never found such a nice room for the $$!

value for money”
The Chiang Mai Gate Hotel was in a good location very close to the airport, we used the hotels driver to take us back to the airport for a reasonable fee. You have a couple of nice bakeries nr by and temples are close. There is also a food market at the top of the road and the hotel provides free transport to the night market at 8pm, and then we caught a red van back for each. The breakfast was really good often changing slightly as well. There are lots of day trips to take as well as two and three day tours, we did the tigers, elephants and the zoo.

good value for money!”
The Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is excellent value for money. It rates not far above the guesthouse market price wise, yet as a budget Hotel, it delivers on every area except for issues with intermittent hot water. The water always managed to be hot enough by the end of my shower. The rooms(new section) are better and if possible request one.

So what if it's a little tired?”
I have been travelling to Chiang Mai since the mid-eighties and staying here on out once a year since 2006. The standard rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. The pool is a huge bonus, for a hotel in this price range. Breakfast is always interesting, with a good selection of Thai and non-Thai dishes, although the juices are always too sweet and the coffee undrinkable! The staff are always willing to help and some of the older staff welcome me 'home' each time I arrive. The place may be a little tired, but then, so am I. It doesn't claim to be a five star hotel, but it lives up to what it does claim to be. Clean, comfortable and well located away from the Night Market (a definite plus in my opinion!) and right by the Wu Lai Walking Street market on Saturday evening. Great little night market up near the moat and the morning market down the road is kind of fun too.

good cost performance ”
Chiang Mai Gate area is relatively quiet compared to Tapei Gate area or Nienman. The hotel has easy accessibility to the old city and facilities nearby (night market, bike/motorbike rent, 711, etc) makes it quite convenient. Just surprised to find that there is another night market with much bigger scale on Saturday night.

Great Location”
Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is located in a great spot. It is a very short walk to the Chiang Mai wall so you can get to everything the city has to offer by walking or by taking a short tuk tuk ride. But it is also just out of the way enough that you will not be bothered by all the noise and busyness of being in the middle of the city. The travel agent in the hotel lobby was very friendly and booked us a perfect day trip of elephant riding, bamboo rafting, and trekking to a waterfall. Overall friendly staff, nice clean rooms, and a great location.

Really enjoyed my stay here...”
Recommended! I loved this hotel and stayed here for 12 days and definitely would return. It’s about 5 minutes down the road to Chiang Mai Gate and the entrance to the old city. Safe and comfortable area around hotel with reasonably priced internet service, several nice coffee shops and several friendly local Thai restaurants where you can get a nice Pad Thai meal for about a dollar.

Exceptional”
Very sadly, had to cancel my travel plans due to covid-19. Un-refundable 2-night stay with hotel - wasn't actually there, couldn't leave North America for Asia. But I'm certain Chiang Mai Gate Hotel is lovely, only wish I could've been there to enjoy at this time. Stay safe.
