Where to stay in Hualien
Hualien hotels & accommodations

A very affordable option for those visiting Taroko Gorge...this is in Hualien, about 25 minutes south of the gorge (very handy if you have your own transport, or hiring a taxi in Hualien will make to easy for them to drop you off here after a day touring the magnificent Gorge). Huge hotel, amazing swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) with an amazing multi-person jet/aq...

It was really a pleasant stay. I would totally recommend friends to stay here if they are looking for a hotel in Hualien. Room was spacious, everything was clean and it was really a pleasant stay. Location of hotel is at the heart of everything. Hotel breakfast can be improve though. Other than that Park City Hotel - Hualien Vacation is almost perfect!

The hotel is in a great place, you can go anywhere from there, near the station (3 minutes walk) and the car hiring company (1 minutes walk). The staff there is so so nice that I find no words to speak ill of them. Even though 1 of the receptionist's english was not good, she tried to explain and answer me all of what I am curious. There was one staff in the afternoon...

It was awesome staying at Lakeshore. I didn't regret booking this hotel as through my search for hotel in Hualien, I would confidently say Lakeshore is the best so far. Rooms are big and spacious, clean, bed is comfy. Hotel staffs serve you like you're in a 5 star hotel.

i chose the pacific ocean view room. it's very spacious! the hotel is located near the top of the mountain range (that runs across taiwan) and it's so huge that it can be seen from hualien airport. accessibility is alright in the daytime because there's a shuttle bus that goes to specific parts of hualien. but the last bus leaves hualien train station at 7pm, so it'...

Being a resort hotel, it has many activities in addition to a great rooftop pool, hot tubs and a tennis court. I saw there were activities for kids and a spa for the adults. In the evening there was an aboriginal performance and a movie. My room was a good size with a nice view of the river. Like most Taiwan hotels there are different room sizes. When you book just spe...

New and appealing hotel in Hualien. It offers a good confort (even if bathrooms are not at the same level as the rest of the hotel). Breakfeast is good and offers a wide choice. Outside pool is also a plus. Main negative points of the hotel is the location. Too far to go by walk to downtown Hualien. You need to take a cab. There is also not a lot of restaurants or ...

We stayed in one of the family rooms and we definitely enjoyed our 3D 2N stay. The breakfast choices were limited but being a relatively new hotel, the staff was eager to serve and friendly. It is near one of the beaches so you could enjoy a stroll near the sea (within walkable distance). The place is near the biggest night market in Hualien so 5 stars for the location...

Checked-in at 7pm into the top floor room. When we returned from dinner close to 10pm Hualien was hit with a heavy downpour causing the roof top water to leak at the lift landing area. Told to change to the 9th floor for all rooms guests on the 10th at 11pm. Was quite a hazzle as the lobby staff was left with 2 guys and we have to move ecerything ourself including pi...

Walking distance to and from Hualien Station. Just look out for a bright yellow building which is very visible from the station. Staff service is impeccable and exemplary. They would drop whatever they are going just to greet you aloud, like Japanese style. Close to dining options too though bit far to night market. But no fault of theirs. 1st hotel we come across that...

Clean hotel and located near to 7E and just 5-8 minutes walk to Hualien Train Station. Can put your bag temporary before check in. When we went to Hualien, it was wet season and we don't have umbrella with us. They let us borrow the hotel umbrella (for the whole day) which I think not many hotel do so, i consider this is something that need to be mention as extra point...

Stayed here for 2 nights, hotel was not the easiest to find as we had to take a local bus to get there. But location is central to the night market (about 10-15 mins leisurely walk) and located in a quiet area of Hualien, which I appreciated. Additional upside to location is that all the group tours we booked included F Hotel Zhongxiao as a possible pick up/drop off lo...

Our stay at Fullon Hotel Hualien was during the time the 6.4-scale earth quake landed in Hualien City. If we had the foresight, we probably wouldn't be in Hualien at that time, but we were there, and were so glad that we stayed at Fullon Hotel! During our last night of planned stay there, we were jolted awake by the quake around midnight in our 10th floor room. The fir...

This is the second time I've stayed at the Just Sleep Hotel in Hualien. What I like most about this hotel is the fact that it's relatively new, & clean with a large spacious room and comfortable bed. It's also fairly close to the night market and shopping. A nice bathroom is also important to me and this one qualifies as it contains the features I like. I also like the...

The Japanese room stated its for 5 adults but we booked it for 6 person and thought it would have an extra bed but no, there were 3 double beds in the room which is very good. Also, the room has 2 toilets, one with bath room and one without bath room. Water pressure of the showers is good. The breakfast was good, with a lot of varieties and also many varieties for veg...

1) Very cheap 2) Walking distance to the inter-state train / bus station which is essential if you'd like to spend most of your time doing outdoor activities. Hualien's attractions are sporadic - so it is a lot more efficient to stay nearby the inter-state station than trying to find a place nearby some of the attractions. Plus, most of the main attractions are outside...

My initial plan was to stay in Hualien for four nights before travelling to other part of Taiwan but due to all the nice scenery and attractions in Hualien. and also the good breakfast and cleanliness of this hotel, I decided to changed my itinerary and spent the remaining of my vacation here. With this opportunity I want to thank all of you in Liga especially a kitch...

I loved my stay at the Quality Inn in Hualien. The staff were fantastic. There was always someone avilable who spoke very good English and they were always helpful. The Inn is close to a varied shopping area, with a lovely little market closeby as well.

Hotel is located in good location. About 100m away from Hualien Railway Station, bus terminal and Tourist Information Centre. Nearby are eateries, shops, convenient stores, restaurants... etc. Friendly and helpful staff with good knowledge of tourist spots and advices on public transportation. Clean spacious room with snow white towels and good quality toiletries. ...

Leaf inn is a beautifully refurbished building with aesthetically pleasing decor. Each room is uniquely designed. The room that I was in had tiny figurines and thought provoking phrases (in Chinese, so it was mostly lost on me). Breakfast is served at the cafe and it was lovely. There was a nice designer market the weekend I was there with some live singing. It's not ...

i was apprehensive when i arrived in hualien, wondering what the hotel and place will be like. when i went to the tourist information centre, a guy pointed out the location of classic city resort to me. the hotel side view with the chinese word "jing dian" looks kinda typical of all taiwan hotels. upon arrival at the hotel, i noticed many umbrellas (about 12nos) pl...

Beautiful concept hotel in Hualien that provides personalized service for their guests! Their attentive staffs went extra mile to provide baby cot, baby tub & ensure we are good for our 2 nights stay there. Highly recommend it as a family friendly hotel!

Location is very strategic and convenient because it’s very near Hualien station. Wherever u wanna go in Hualien, it has the best location to go from because most public buses and trains are all accessible here at Hualien station. It’s a green building hostel and easily spotted across from the station. There’s a cafe at the entrance of the building, or other alternati...

It's an average hostel in terms of decor and look and that goes up to spectacular because of it's location. Stay in Tianxiang to get much more convenient access to the Taroko Gorge walks instead of staying in Hualien or Xincheng. It feels a bit on the pricey side, but considering the lack of other options and its relatively secluded location it's pretty good. Try to ge...

The staff was very very helpful. From the moment they fetched us from the airport, the service level was impeccable. Arsma is one of the newest hotel in Hualien, well-designed and comfortable. It is located next to the main shopping "triangle" in Hualien, where you can find clothes, shoee and local street food. We will certainly stay at Arsma again if we visit Hualien...

Very safety place , clean and big room, staff is very good service, has sevice mind...We are appreciated. Closed to night market, walk 5 mins...Closed to the beach too...Need only mirror in room not only in bathroom... will be perfect place that do not miss when visit Hualien City in Taiwan...
Cheap places to stay in Hualien

I stayed one more night then planned because I appreciate Hualien and the lovely bean hostel very much. it is very clean, close to bus or train station and very convenient with the free bicycles. I drove around to the bicycle street at the beach and to some places the staff recommended me. also the beds are super cosy and the sheet is the best I had in my 6 month trave...

Nick is a wonderful and thoughtful host. He upgraded me from mixed to female dorm without being request or with any additional charges. Yayers! Upon arriving, Nick will explain all the to-go and to-eat at Hualien with a photocopied hand drawn map. He will be able to assist you with tour bookings & arrangements. :) Place is clean and cozy, equipped pretty much all t...

The host was very friendly and kind, the package also comes with two flurry kids. So it’s a good place for dog lovers. It also provides washing machine without charges. Place was clean and comfortable. Will come back to this place on my next visit to HuaLien.

Really great experience in Bayhouse. Everything more than my expectation! Staff there are friendly and willing to help anytime. If you have an opportunity to stay there, must try the foods recommend by them, really nice which won't disappoint you! Room is big and comfortable, books are avalaible in the room just makes me feel like home. Although they said to have no b...

I loved my stay in Hualien. Even if it was raining all the time, i really enjoyed staying at Lazy House. We watched a movie one evening and on the other the host cooked hot pot and she invited us. That was great! Coffee, Tea, Water is free and they have Oats for Breakfast. You‘re free to use the kitchen and you could also cook something! 2 minutes away there is a grea...

I guess my title sums it up. Phoenix Hostel is located within walking distance to Dongdamen Night Market. It is a 30 minute walk from Hualien train station (or about TWD 150 by Taxi, 6 minutes). Food: Breakfast was decent - sausages, ham, cheese slices, bread, garlic bread, salads etc. Drinks - basically a coffee machine. Beds: What I liked about the place was the...

I stayed here for five days and then extended my stay three more. Annie the hostel manager is incredibly welcoming and very helpful. She gave me lots of great tips on things to do around Hualien. The rooms are well lit, with balconies attached, and clean well maintained bathrooms. There is a kitchen that is available to use, and free washing machines. Overall I had a g...

This hostel is my favorite in Taiwan. It's very well located just right in front of the main train station in Hualien and bus station to go to Taroko and other places. The double bed in a dormitory is very comfortable and with some privacy due to the curtains. Pillows are comfy, clean and big, also the bed. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They clean very well ...

Good location, 10-15 min walk from train station. Easy to reach. The owner, Jasmine, is very friendly. She has a very cute (and old, 17 y.o.) shih tzu dog, for those who like dogs. There are laundry services, for a minimal fee. A good base to explore Hualien and Taroko National Park for a few days. There are lots of small restos and convenience stores nearby. I would re...

Nice stay at Black Bear with personal locker in dorm, perfect laundry area at top floor balcony (sunshine!), bicycle rental. It was always crowded with travellers from various countries. Good location walking distance from Hualien station. Cycled 30mins to 七星潭 for the sunrise.

Amazing hostel!Value for money n definately would come again:) 1)The hosts Una and Aga are so passionate n friendly to show their place and help to plan ur trip in Hualien and place in Taiwan 2)Location is good where u can walk to train station n night bazzar and of cos u can have a bike from them for FREE! 3) Wonderful decor and cozy made me feel 'HOME'...very tho...

Good, although the location was a bit far (5,10 min walk from railway station and 20min walk from city centre). I was staying with 2 uni, students from taiwan and mainland and had a good experience communicating with them. The facilities including the toilets were clean. Can sleep quite comfortably in the hostel. I am not sure of the price in other hostel so i have noth...

I had a very comfortable stay here. When I checked in, I was given a map of the area and an explanation about all the interesting spots nearby - without even having to ask them for it. The location is 10 minutes away from the most famous night market, and only 1 minute away there's a smaller market which was also very nice. If you want to go to Taroko, you can easily t...

WM&S Hostel is brand new. We happened to be the only guests in the 8-bed dorm during our 1-night stay. Everything was clean and well presented. Lockers are roomy. Bedding is comfortable but mattresses are unexpectedly hard. A waste bin would have not been out of place. We liked the strong hot shower. Breakfast was unexpectedly generous. The price was right. Finding the...

I booked this room for my friend then he was lost on the way there and no battery on phone, the nice keeper tried to find him on the streets at a late night, my friend told me he felt quite embarrassed but they were still so friendly and the room there was so comfortable and clean, we will stay there together next time when we travel in east Taiwan, best choice for an...

• The hotel is brand new and it give you a private moments. The capsule is big enough for person. • We still have some myth about the location. It's 30 mins walk to Hualien Station (2.8-3 km.) but near to A1 and some good restaurants. If you are a Walk Only traveller, this hostel might be too far, It's ok if you rent a motorcycle, and it's ok if you are a hardcore wa...

About 5 to 10 minutes walk for Hualien train station. The front desk (Jack, Nick when I checked in and a lady when I checked out) is very friendly. They will try to answer any questions your may have regarding Hualien/Taiwan. Simple clean and comfy room. I like the sitting area where you can chill after a tiring day out. However, please take note the check in ...

The owner of the hostel is very nice. he helped me to organize a nice day trip to 泛舟, it's really exciting and there's special discount offered to the hostel customers which travel fee is included. There're many other 1day or 2day trip around Hualien that I want to join when I go there again. Highly recommend!!!!!

The hotel was a 5-minute walk from Hualien train station as well as the feeder bus station to Taroko National Park (runs as early as 7:00am onward). It was extremely solo-travel friendly with all the necessary brochures and maps to help you get around the city. The entire place was very clean - helped by the fact that you're only allowed their hostel slippers beyond ...

Place has 2 buildings, opposite of each other. The Corner House, is the branch, and it is a hostel. The hostel itself besides having common hostel rooms, it also has 2 rooms with private bathrooms and basic amenities. Both are just a walking distance away from the train station. The staffs are, however, one of the best I've met across my travels. Very genuinely helpful...

The first thing i noticed was how ridiculously clean the floor was in the bedroom. The staff were always very helpful, despite sometimes having language barriers. If you plan on resting in the room diring the day there is no air conditioning from 9 pm to 9 am so take that into consideration. Overall i had a great stay here, if you're interested the owner is really into...

A stylish, well-decorated hostel with a spacious lounge/kitchen area. The staff are friendly, welcoming and spoke very good English. The beds are comfortable and curtains are available if you want the extra privacy. Pull out lockers underneath each bunk is big, should fit most traveller's backpacks. Con: It's further away from Hualien city centre but I chose this loc...

I travelled to Hualien for a much needed break from Taipei and G.O.A.T. Hostel turned out to be the perfect choice for my little getaway. The shared facilities and room were modern and clean. The house is within 7 minutes walking distance from the main station. There you can get a bus, train, rent a scooter or a bicycle to discover the natural beauty of Hualien - and ...

This is one of the best Taiwan Hot Spring hotel that we've visited, Silence Manor are in a seclude area, great environment, just a bit far from the nearby town. Other than this, everything else are just great, the rooms are large, nicely decorated, the hot spring are very good, the food are good too, nice presentation and taste good for a hotel in Hualien. Their staf...

My husband and I stayed here for the past 3 days and it was beyond our expectations. The 2 owners, Aaron and Ken went over and above to explain the area, made sure we felt comfortable and at home. The hotel is conveniently located near Hualien train station. Just a 3 minute walk up the road. If you're planning on taking a bus to Taroko Gorge the buses also leave from the train station. The owner, Chris, was very friendly and helpful. Our room was very modern, clean, quiet and comfortable.

We had the entire place to ourselves. The facilities are wonderful and our room was great! Amazing hosts that are so kind! Fantastic home cooked breakfast! So delicious. Complimentary coffee, sweets, fruits all day. Absolutely perfect stay. A little far from town, but short taxi ride. Would highly recommend this super sweet place!! Wish we would have stayed lon...

The assistant caretaker took really good care of us. As it was hard to get down the mountain, she took an initiative to prepare some home cooked dishes for us. We felt like home during our stay. She even recommended a few tourist destination and pineapple cake shop which turn out to be fabulous. One thing to note is you need to prepare own transport to get there. The ...

We loved this property. The grounds were beautiful and the room was spotless and very private. It was a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The staff was so friendly and kind and the breakfast was big and delicious. The only thing missing was resteraunts close by. We went in to Hualien for food. But other than that this is a gem and a place for relaxing. We would ...

Beautiful castle on the east coast of Taiwan. Truly a hot spring oasis with multiple pools, massive indoor and outdoor facilities and a breakfast and dinner buffet to salivate over. Dinner included a sushi selection with a chef slicing off fresh sashimi off of massive tunas and an amazing spread of literally every cuisine. Amazon touches in the room and around, includi...

Real reviews for hotels
Nice scenic place, good for relaxation and nature lovers. Not the place for those seeking city life.
Hualien is a very huge county and a lot of nature sights can be found here. Taroko Gorge is a must-go to experience its wonders.
A peaceful town for relaxation away from the business of Taipei city. Rich in culture with a large population of the aborigines.
A great place to experience nature in Taiwan. Lack public transport, must hire a driver or guide in order to truly experience Hualien.
Overall quiet and nice town , great for relaxation and not over crowded, friendly people and lots of scenic views.
Check the weather first before arriving. We were disappointed to arrive when it was raining because we could not go to Taroko Gorge and Seven Stars Lake.
You can do a range of walks. Would certainly recommend more than 1 night. Depending on how much walking, sight seeing, biking around you want to do but there is a huge range of out door activities which you can do.
Nothing. We went to a hot spring described as being Hualien, but it was actually 65km away so we never saw Hualien
Huealien is a good destination to refreshing your soul, with the slow pacing lifestyle and friendly local people, wonderful landscape and beatiful beach, as well as delicious local food, you will definitely love this place
Was stay here because of going to visit Taroko (Amazing view cause we drove all the way from Tai Chung to Hua Lien)and Chike Mountain.
Hualien is mainly for sightseeing, better to book driver if in groups so that able to go see more places.
Hualien is a big city. So if you want to visit all the town, you need to spend at least 3 days in there.
should drive or hire a car with a driver (tour guide) should spend a day at Taroko National Park and another day driving along the East Rift Valley
You must take car or bus tour to different attractions. When you go to the Hualin city centre for shopping, you may take taxi by calling or booking.
There is a need to get a private driver to travel around this city. It would save your time and enjoy to the max
Must visit the national tarogo gorges, shi ti ping and ci sing tan. Don't visit sugar factory...not worth the time there.
Hualien is a great place for nature and sightseeing, with the Taroko Gorge, Qi Xing Tan and Ruisui Hotspring within its vicinity.
Loved visiting nature spots like Qingshui Cliff, Taroko Gorge. Otherwise a very chill city where lots of delicious food can be found.
Hualian is an aera with most religious people in Taiwan. Tailu Park is quite famous and worth sightseeing.
Overall, it was a very relaxing trip to Hualien and it is thoroughly very enjoyable. Beautiful sightseeing places.
Had very good time about the Scenic Nature, the Beach, the Sunrise, the Seafood. It is a fantastic city to stay.
food is good here. scenic driving routes. take the time to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful landscapes =)
Hualien reminded me a lot of Jogjakarta, but Chinese version. Laid-back city with rows of shophouses, delicious food and the centre for venturing out to other sites (i.
We spent 2.5 days could have stayed a week, plenty to do but need to go by shuttle bus and travel a fair bit and you can purchase a 2 day pass for NT$400 or 1 day for NT$250, the mountains and coast line are amazing.
If you love country life, you will love this city. It is totally different from many Taiwan cities that are so metropolis types.
Truly a county with the sights of a country. The diversity of landscape and activities that one can engage in is truly amazing.
Really boring place, unless you love sightseeing. Food at night market are really bad. We did so much research before we went, after having tasted the real food in the night market, we believed whatever was recommended on blogs, tv, etc are all just pure gimmicks.
near Taroko National Park, most convenientif you have own transport so that you can take your time.If heading on to SunMoon Lake or vice versa, note the Cross Island Highway is not for the faint-hearted.
Hualien city is basically a place to stay to visit Taroko gauge. The city itself does not offer much in the way of sightseeing, or even shopping, or dining.
Love it! Spent 3days eating myself through the city. Great food on every corner. Get a bike and explore the bike paths round town or scooter of to the smaller villages!
