Kuching hotels & places to stay

I was in Kuching for a 3D2N business trip. Everyone was very friendly and I definitely liked it here. Riverside Majestic Hotel is locates at the centerpoint of downtown Kuching. Short walking distance to various amenities. For example, there are 7-11 and Gloria Jeans Cafe right across the street. Cinema is available just next to the hotel, on the 4th floor. Lots of great and scrumptious local delights worth explore (day and night). Topspot Food Court serves cheap but fresh seafood, Kolo Mee and Sarawak Laksa are available within 2km radius. I definitely enjoy various night lights along the riverfront which has numerous spot (e.g. city mosque and Astana) where you can stop and soak it all in. Overall it was a pleasant trip in Kuching. Hotel staff were very efficient and amicable, they smile all the time and be ready to assist travellers always.

It has been a very wonderful experience to stay in this newly opened hotel in Kuching on my 2014 Christmas holidays with my family members. 1. The room is very cosy and spacious, particularly the bathroom!! 2. Buffet breakfast are served in wide varieties of food choices, among that, nasi lemak is a must try!! 3. The new modernized Boulevard shopping mall located adjacent to the hotel is an added pleasure for shopping spree. Everything is definitely worth for value and for sure, the hotel is highly recommended for every traveller, no matter whether you are on holidays or official trip.

I chose Margherita Hotel for my experience in Rain Forest Musical Event was due to best online promotion room rates among the hotels in Kuching. Our experience with the hotel hospitality was when we requested for room change and the attention given was superb. We were granted and lead to the ideal room that we requested. We were also elated as we found out that Margherita Hotel would be the 1st pick up point for shuttle bus to the Rain Forest Event and more is also the 1st drop off point after the event over. In other words, we gets the best seat that we wish on the way to Sarawak Cultural Village and able to rest early once the event over. As this was our 1st trip to Kuching, staying in Margherita Hotel helps us to save lots of time to do our shopping and enjoy the town scenery as the location of the hotel have easy access and nearby to many attraction places. It was my second time staying in this hotel. This hotel is very convenient; free wifi, free breakfast, free airport pick up (but you need to book through Agoda and key in that info in the agoda booking page, otherwise you will be charged RM 18 for airport pick up), very comfortable room, not too small, but with comfortable bed... It is very affordable and value for what you could get compared to other hotels in Kuching.

Perfect location.it is located at the centre of Kuching town. I stayed at 3 rooms apartment. The apartment are big and kids are enjoy playing at hall.swimming pool are a bit small but okay for small kids The only problem with this apartment is the rooms are extremely cool.We closed the aircondition but still cool. Cannot control temp Aircond temperature. Overall this is the BEST hotel in Kuching. Highly recommended.

I regularly stay in a number of hotels in Kuching, but 360 is my favourite and by far the best value for money - 5-star quality at reduced price. The staff are always very friendly and helpful - during my most recent visit they reliably arranged an early call and taxi. The rooms are very comfortable with very high quality facilities - the room is very clean and modren, the hotel having been built recently. The shower suite feels very luxurious and the flat-screen TV picks up a good range of channels including film channels. A useful range of complementary items are also provided in the room, including shaving kit, toothpaste and tothbrush and comb, in addition to the usual items provided. The only disadvantage to the hotel is that it is situated a couple of miles from the centre, though this is easily overcome as taxis frequent the hotel regularly.

This is the best 3 star hotel I'd been stayed so far. Nothing to complaint about. Location, price, cleanliness, food, staff, everything excellent. I'll stay here if travel to Kuching once again & no any other reason to opt to other hotel. Even in 5 star hotel in certain places, I did not feel a good experience like here. I've been staying at the hotel for 2 night with breakfast for 2. My stay was great, the hotel was clean and the staff is friendly. The breakfast is good too. I would greatly recommend the hotel to my friends and family. The facilities and service provided is worth the money you spend. The location itself is great too. Located next to CityOne Megamall and near to the 101 Food Centre (5mins walk) which offer a lot of food variety (Mostly non halal). By the way, the Grab service is impressive during my stay. Once you book a Grab, it will take 5 mins or less for them to pick you up at the hotel. I will definitely come back once I travel to Kuching.

Hilton is probably the best hotel in Kuching. centrally located with rooms that have exceptional views of the river! Staff are helpful and kind at EVERY level. Breakfast is good quality and varied. Spa provides great packages in a relaxing environment. You can book the most amazing trips at the travel agent based in the lobby - trips you will remember forever! Orangutan - long houses - Kayaking - even a stay over at the Long House Managed resort. Lots of hipster cafes near by like James Brooks. Close to the river cruise pick up point. Hotel is dated...BUT do you know what your in Borneo and the service is excellent.

I stayed at Abel for three nights. I arrived on a last flight and it was almost 12 am when I checked in. The staff at the reception were super friendly, especially Sylvester and Lawrence. I missed my luggage at the airport and they helped to get the contact numbers and my luggage arrived at the hotel the next day. For me, it was a great help and amazing service. The staff here are so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are small, very neat and clean. Good hot water. What else you need when you are on a business trip. Good location with a 24- hours KFC, many restaurants, banks, Tun Jugah Mall near by. Walking distance to the main locations. I enjoyed the restaurant. One of the best restaurants in Kuching. The buffet system is excellent where people do not get greedy and waste food. Overall I will recommend this hotel, best choice.

We've stayed Jinhold before (and for many times), and still this apartment hotel is one of the finest I've stayed. We booked a Studio but instead we got an upgrade to Apartment-type room, which is a bogus, the staff was really nice to upgrade us the room for free. The room is 'kinda' clean; 'kinda' because we spot a dead cockroach beside the refrigerator..not much of a hassle, but to spot it on the first day AND the second day, well, it lowered the star for the cleanliness.You'd need to pack your take-away food properly if you decide to eat/store it for later. The hotel is situated far from the busyness of Kuching; you'd need a car or a drive to get to the hotel.However there are food stalls/corner, restaurants and a Starbucks nor far from the hotel area you can walk by. Not sure if there's a Halal restaurant/food corner around since we've never seen it. Breakfast is pretty much bland in taste; you'd only got daily (bland) Nasi Lemak menu, some changing noodles/mee menu, porridge and bread/sandwich. Sometimes there's special menu, but in limited quantities. You will need food coupon every morning, and you'll need to get those from counter daily.Coupon also limited to two person per room, so you'd probably need to ask/buy at the counter for more. Need to improve on both of these. I've given Jinhold 5 stars as this is a hotel that value for your money. For RM88/per night (excluding taxes), this hotel is cheaper than most of the hotel in Kuching; but with extra perk. The room is spacious and nice. There are many facilities, you can even cook your own meal/dinner with provided rice cooker,frying pan etc (where else you can get those unless you book an apartment suite..?). I would definitely recommend Jinhold if you have transport to get around, but if you have no transport, you can still can get Grab/Uber to get around.

We stayed at Damai Puri for 4 days and 3 nights. Upon the arrival at the hotel, my husband and I were captivated by surrounding scenaries, the sea and mountains. What a perfect and beautiful place for our retreat! My son also enjoyed himself at the children's pool and we had alot of fun playing together. The location was excellent. It was within walking distance to the cultural village and rainforest walks. The hotel also had shuttle service to Kuching city. Well, we had a good rest and re-charged for more challenges back at work.

We had a pleasant, 6-day stay in Kuching. The hotel, or 'apart-hotel' as they call it, lies half-way between Kuching International Airport and Kuching city centre. We stayed in a clean and quiet 1-bedroom on the 6th floor. The fully equipped kitchen is very useful given the limited dining at the hotel, although across the road is a major shopping mall, The Spring, accessible through a pedestrian bridge. The breakfast is quite basic, but serves the purpose. The hotel staff are attentive, friendly, and polite. Our buys couldn't get enough of the pool, and there is a laundrette on-site for our laundry. The only source of annoyance is the elevator, which requires key-card access every time. Otherwise, we're already putting this as our favourite Kuching hotel.

Traveling to Kuching over last 5 years, stayed in various hotels. 1st time tryout this hotel. Wonderful experience, will return for next trip. Pros - Big spacious, clean room & toilet, very clean i.e. no musty, stale smell, thick mattress with firm beds, comfortable, my husband said is one best bed ever slept in hotels. Value for money-Free breakfast for 3, family room (1 king & 1 single) RM130+per night. Good location- 15-20 mins walk to waterfront, Top Spot seafood, Chinatown....beside & across roads foodcourts open for breakfast to lunch - famous Sarawak laksa, kolomee, etc. Free parking, plentiful in hotel basement, front and along slip road. Parking is always a problem, staying in Waterfront hotels like Merdeka Palace, Grand Margherita, Imperial Riverbank. Courteous, friendly, helpful staff, smiling faces greeted us daily. Cons - None... except some may not like old furniture, bits stain bathroom tiles. Well Done - Grand Continental Hotel Management & team

The staffs are friendly from the moment you walk in until you check out. The GM friendly and very responsible as well. She asked how was my stay and my experience staying at the hotel. Some of the 4-5 stars hotel in Kuching does not greet or very friendly, concerned like the same way compare to this hotel. The room very clean. The parking quite hard if you stay at this hotel on weekdays. But for weekend or public holiday you will have no problem looking for a spot to park your car. There are variety of Chinese's coffee shops available surrounding the hotel. Walking distance to The Waterfront, shopping centre, pharmacy, 24hrs mart and bars. 100% will book this hotel again.

We thought Permai Rainforest Resort was amazing! Such a beautiful location with both rainforest and ocean. We stayed in the treehouse and had a beautiful view of the ocean and the rainforest. Treehouse was beautiful, bathroom and towels/sheets could do with an upgrade but didn't bother us too much. Breakfast and dinner included was great! Even though we ended up ordering extra stuff most nights because the buffet wasn't amazing. Heaps of activities that we didn't get a chance to do but plenty of options. The pool was so nice and refreshing. Also would recommend the jungle trek to the waterfall. So beautiful. Location is very far from Kuching town centre so if that's where you're wanted to go each day would not recommend this resort. We took one day trip into Kuching to visit the wildlife centre. Was pretty cheap for a grab/taxi. Overall would definitely recommend Permai Rainforest Resort!! Will definitely come back if we're ever in Kuching again.

A beautiful building with tasteful rooms. I booked a Mezannine Room for my son and I due to wanting a room with more natural light. However, I think that the best rooms are those with balconies facing the pool. The mattress was firm and comfortable, the bathroom was clean with a decent shower. A fridge would have come in handy but no big issue. Breakfast is toast, cereal, bananas, tea and coffee (coffee machine), so simple but fine to start the day before getting stuck into the local food outside. The name is apt as it is more like a lodging house than a hotel, as rooms are spaced out. Lovely swimming pool that didn't get busy and great staff. A very enjoyable eight days, both in Kuching and at The Marian.

This Christamas, we decided to drive from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah into Kuching, Sarawak. Besaga Resident Hotel was again mentioned I decided to take the chance of booking our 5 full nights for our visit to Kuching instead of Borneo Coffee Homestay. I live for nostalgia value, and was pleased to learnt the story of the resident origin and the hotel name origins "Besaga"!! Besaga Resident Hotel provides an environment with greens (minus the mosquitoes), calm, and relaxation with a small pool for shallow deeping with lovely wooden deck surrounded shrubs and shaded by the besaga trees. The restaurant comes with good western food and snack in the afternoon or for happy hours (we have our Christmas Eve dinner at the courtyard with our 5 adults guest and a 2 months old baby) the evening was beautiful without loud techno music the frighten the baby. The beauty is that we does not need to go out of the hotel if one just wanted to relax and take it easy and relax either by the pool or restaurant area to read a book etc. But nevertheless, Besaga Resident Hotel is only 5-10 minutes to the airport, Kuching city center or to Spring Mall. The Besaga Resident hotel is well centralise but the most important part is it has a good restaurant, it provides calm relaxation clean environment from an old school building, and for the price (that I paid) is far worth for its value for money!!! My room comes with breakfast and the best thoughts of nostalgia it brings me back to my memories of Pelabuhan Ratu down south of Java during my 6 years in Jakarta. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling with family. It's clean, cool, calm and beautiful. I hope they keep up the place. Only draw back the wifi, slow.

Well, obviously for the price paid and the service provided (the hotel provides pick up and drop off at airport for a minimal fee), this is the best value hotel in Kuching. Bed is rather comfortable, good shower, the hotel itself is very presentable. I had stayed at numerous hotels of different classes around the world, so for the price and the services you get, I would really recommend this hotel. Full credit is given to Allen Tan, the Manager who was very efficient in email correspondence, for his professionalism. Cheers! Definitely will stay at this hotel when I visit Kuching again.

This hotel is low density and has the most incredible setting with views of the mountain, mangroves, beaches and Bako national park. Spacious, luxurious rooms with balcony. Loads of space for 4 people in our room with a huge bathroom (corner suite) The kids loved playing in both swimming pools. They provided inflatables for the kids and have a large array of board and card games available for them to play. The chef made individual meals to order for the children for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day - best macaroni cheese in Malaysia! Both pools are lovely. Cove 55 is extremely clean, impeccably decorated and the staff try so hard to personalise your stay. I highly recommend Cove 55 for families or couples wanting to stay somewhere friendly and high quality from which to easily explore Santubong mountain (15 mins), the Cultural village (10 mins) , Bako national park (40 mins) and the Kuching wetland boat rides to see dolphins, proboscis monkeys, fire flies and crocs

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Highlands Resort and would recommend it to anyone visiting Kuching who wants to experience the Borneo highlands. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and there are plenty of walks from the hotel. We enjoyed the walk through the jungle to the Kalimantan view, the views over Indonesia were great, and I climbed Mount Penrissen which was a tough five hour hike but very rewarding. The activities desk was very helpful and you can do guided activities if you want to pay. The hotel was good value for money. The vegetarian menu has some good dishes but would be enhanced by a little more range and creativity. The restaurant staff were very helpful and always made sure we had some iced water after coming back from a walk. The outside pool was out of action when we visited which was a little disappointing but the spar service and pool was very good. We hired a car in Kuching and drove to the resort which gave us a little more flexibility, but the hotel also provides plenty of transport round the resort area and some trips further afield if you want them. We enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere in this lovely place.

The hotel interior is very nice, modern and during our stay, theres not much guests cause weekdays so its so peaceful. I've requested room with bathtub, and the room was perfect. Everything is complete in the room with hi-speed wifi, room with Sarawak's river view, iron together with iron board, hairdryer and smart TV. My husband and I were so happy staying here for 4 days 3 nights for our honeymoon. The breakfast provided also was good. The distance from hotel to the city is 20mins away but we dont mind since we used to drive a lot in KL and the traffic in Kuching is not hectic at all. Overall, we had and amazing stay at UCSI Hotel Kuching from 19th Dec to 22nd Dec 2018. :)

This place is a bit pricey compared to other hotels in kuching but there is good reason for that. The design of the hotel and the rooms is beautiful. A great mix of Sarawakian and modern decoration. Located right on the waterfront and about a 2 minute walk from the new Plaza Merdeka mall and just around the corner from old carpenter street. Lots of good food, shopping, and sightseeing is available in the immediate area. Staff was very helpful and friendly, and again, the rooms are amazing!
