Quiet resting place”

A place surrounded by tranquility and beauty, friendly politeness, not to far from the city.
cannot think of any

My purpose of staying at Horizon Village Resort was to find a quick maximized rest and quietness for my weary soul, with combination of exercize, in a safe place for a woman in a venue close enough to Chiang Mai not to waste time on travel. It was the perfect place, the combination of being next door to the Thawechon Botanical garden and the privileges of the guests to enjoy and explore it's beauty. Salt water swimming pool few meters from the room. The rooms of the resort are beautifully decorated and the place is spacious even with many guests, it doesn't feel crowded. The food is excellent in both the breakfast buffet or dinner restaurant a la' carte. Much good can be said, but for me it was perfect.

Great hotel in very nice surroundings”

Nice surroundings, friendly staff, well-maintained park and hotel

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the Horizon Village & Resort. The hotel itself is located inside a rather large park with a large selection of plants and animals from Northern Thailand. It is very relaxing to walk around in the park and enjoy the scenic surroundings. The hotel breakfast offered several choices of food and quality was high. Staff was friendly and payed high attention to guest's needs. The only minus is the hotel location somewhat outside Chiang Mai city centre. Expect a 15-20 minutes drive if you wish to go downtown Chiang Mai.

Excellent”

It is really amazing staying in Horizon Village Resort. I feel like I am the only one staying as it is so big and I don't see any other travellers at all most of the time. I am the only one at the pool, also when cycling around the whole big garden village, it feels like I own the garden !! Many staff though. They maintain the whole resort very well. Very clean, everywhere. Hardly find a dust at all. Very beautiful place to stay in and relax, if you want to relax. Otherwise is far from the city and hardly get taxi to come in to fetch you or send you back. The staff in general are good, the only thing is I feel that they can be a little more "flexible". For example, the free airport transport that I have including in my room rate, they told me that there is the fixed timing so is like 630am or 830am. I did not have to leave until like 730-8am for my flight, 830 will be abit too rushing in case of the traffic jam. However until the next morning 630am I realized that I was the only one who using the shuttle to airport ! Which.... could have arrange for me a little later? Also the hot water for my shower was not working. Informed them three times but is not fixed. So I got to bare with cold water late at night and early in the morning. Only the small things, otherwise the trip will be really superb !! Overall I still like the resort.

Excellent place to kick back and relax with family”

Beautiful rooms, great pool, wonderful gardens, fun playground

my wife, daughter and i loved the few days we spent at horizon village. rooms are absolutely beautiful. the pool is wonderful, as are the botanical gardens next door. one thing we particularly loved, since we brought our 16-month daughter along for the trip, was that there is a great children's playground in the gardens. we used it every day. one downside, however, is that the hotel is about a half-hour outside of the city, located along a highway, so it's a bit more difficult to get out and experience thai culture. it also limits your dining options to the few restaurants on-site -- not all of which are open all day long. while a bit pricy, the food on-site is good. we appreciated the variety at the free breakfast buffet and the selection of both western and thai foods at the restaurant. the hotel offers free twice-daily shuttles to the night bazaar and downtown chiang mai, but if you don't sign up for them early, they fill up quickly. because a company was having a conference during our stay, the shuttles filled up quickly until the conference ended. we wanted a relaxing time to wind down before returning to work, so we loved it.

My best stay yet in Chiang Mai”

We have been visiting Chiang Mai once or twice a month for the last 8 years. Our stay at the Horizon is the best yet. We will not be going anywhere else in future and will extend our stays The staff are unfailingly helpful and pleasant, the rooms are great, facilities are very good and the catering, especially the breakfast is excellent. The resort is only a 30 minute drive to the night market or the airport plaza and there is a plaza a lot nearer if you want it. However we did not really want to leave the resort as we were enjoying ourselves so much on site Highly recommend it to anyone who wants a bit of luxury and relaxation without paying silly money. We will be going back very soon :-)

Resort inside a huge botanical garden”

If you stay at Horizon you must plan at least 2 hours to enjoy the massive botanical garden, I did several when in Thailand and this private one was by far the most impressive and the real plus of this place. The place is divided in several residency (Horizon 1 / 2 / 3 / 4) with various type of rooms. They have a serious problem with closing doors of each room, people would slam their bedroom door and this would wake us up in the middle of the night (for late arrival) and early in the morning (early check out). Appart from this, make sure to have transportation to the center of Chiang Mai, approx 30 minutes from the resort, there is a free shuttle twice a day, we also used Uber and Grab very often.

Perfect for a relaxing and quiet getaway”

Quiet atmosphere, beautiful botanical garden and swimming pool

My husband and I volunteer in Chiang Mai and decided to stay at Horizon to celebrate my birthday and have a peaceful time to ourselves for a day. This hotel went beyond our expectations. We stayed in January, considered high tourist season in Thailand, yet we felt like we had the place to ourselves. It was beautiful, clean and was great value for the money we paid. We spent our day relaxing next to the outdoor pool and exploring the big botanical garden and zoo on bicycles and a paddle boat. It was a great romantic getaway yet would also be a great place for children because there is so much to see. I wouldn't recommend it for people who want to spend a lot of time in the city since it is far away from center of Chiang Mai. However, for those seeking a restful, relaxing time this is the place for you!

Perfect place for a weekend retreat”

Clean spacious rooms; the gardens next door were amazing; food was wonderful

we live in chiang mai and often need to get away from the busyness of life and the traffic in the city. this was the perfect place to retreat !!! the service was wonderful and the room was comfortable and clean. we spent several hours each day riding our rented bikes through the botanical gardens next door to the resort. what a beautiful setting !!!! a great place to unwind and enjoy god's creation. we had lunch in the resturant in the gardens and it was enjoyable. there is a nice sized pool at the resort where we spent one whole afternoon just sitting and talking and relaxing. the breakfast was enjoyable and the open air seating was very relaxing. there is also a little coffee shop right in front of the garden area, a perfect way to spend an hour or two sipping wonderful coffee and just watching life pass by. we left relaxed and renewed. we will put this on our calendar to be an ongoing retreat every few months. the one suggestion i would have would be to have some comfortable chairs in the room. we only had a desk chair and would have liked to sit in a chair to watch tv at night. also, some cushions on the outside chairs would have been a plus. i will come prepared next time.

Amazing with a couple minor faults”

The grounds are absolutely spectacular, staff very helpful, great food. Clean rooms with spacious western shower. We could refill water bottles at breakfast. The breakfast had many options.

Nature lovers who want to stay in pleasant, quality accommodation - you will be delighted by the immaculate, creative, spacious gardens, and the peace and quiet. It is a huge park, a source for endless hours of enjoyment. I can't say enough about it - you just have to experience it, especially if you live and work out in the community in Asia. A wonderful get-away. The staff were very attentive and accommodating at meals with my food allergy issue, going above and beyond anywhere else I have experienced in Asia. Be aware that it is a distance from the city center. There is a yellow songtheaw truck that runs on the highway right in front of the resort. The Central Festival shopping mall is an easy 30 minute trip. The couple of minor faults were, 1. the air conditioner in the room seems dated and there was a musty smell in the room, likely from the air conditioner. 2. The pool is heavily chlorinated at Horizon 2, I really noticed when I tried to wash my hair after swimming. The chlorine smell lingered on my skin long after showering. Thankfully after speaking with the managing staff, I was allowed to use one of the other swimming pools. 3. The bed design is unique, but impractical. Watch your shins because there is a wood rail around the outside of the bed.

Beautiful hotel with nice room and garden areas”

Room with sliding glass doors to the outside garden area

the room was very nice with authentic thai decor. the staff was very friendly and provided everything that was requested. the hotel is more like a vacation village with lakes and a wide variety of plants from around the world, which were labeled and well groomed. there was also a zoo with many animals. a small electric cart with driver was provided free of charge for a tour of the grounds.the driver was very friendly. he drove us through the entire park area and even took pictures of us. i gave him a nice tip and he was pleased to have taken us. the breakfast buffet was very nice, and had excellent service. the only negative is that it is located about twenty minutes from the chiang mai city center.

Service was very good and the staff were excelient”

Gardens were spectacular

I would certainly go back to Horizon Village and Resort. However, if you were going with a veiw to partying all night, you would be disappointed. It was quiet, but with something for everyone, and I imagine children would have a ball there. The only criticism would be that there is nowhere to go for a quiet drink after dinner. Perhaps a piano bar on one of the many beautiful terraces overlooking a lake. Excellent!!

Excellent Acommodation for a stay in Chiang Mai”

The room was clean and inexpensive. Breakfast and room service were both pretty good. The Horizon also provides a free shuttle to the airport if you need it (talk to the front desk). There’s also a pool and botanical gardens on the premises if you decide to simply relax at the hotel for the day. I had a very pleasant stay, and I’d thoroughly recommend it if you’re staying in Chiang Mai.

Great hotel for remote relaxation”

Big rooms, nice swimming pool, beautiful garden, free airport transfer

We had a very nice stay at Horizon Village & Resort. Everything is well maintained and high quality. The rooms are big and it's quiet surroundings. It's perfect for a few days away from everything. We didn't leave the hotel the three days/two nights we stayed there - instead we walked around in the gardens and stayed at the swimming pool.

Hidden Gem”

Staff courtesy, beautiful grounds, fantastic rooms

about a 30 - 40 minute ride out of the centre of chiang mai but well worth the trip. could not fault the service, the rooms, the food and value for money. we stayed in a standard room for 1575 baht per night and could see no reason to have to upgrade. it is part of the botanical gardens next door which you get free entry to. well worth a ride around on a bike you hire for 2 hours at 30 baht. the village is big place and the restaurant a bit of a walk but no problem. the grounds around the complex re stunning. we stayed during the low season so not many people around. they have 2 restaurants normally open but only one when we stayed. we were given free transport back to the train station to continue our travels. i think that is the norm? the pools are beautiful and clean. a great place for all types. young, old, families, it caters for all. we would not hesitate staying here again.

Beautiful out-of-the-way resort hotel, and cheap!”

Most beautiful setting I have ever seen for a hotel, good to see the country from but not to see the city.

chiang mai is a place to get away from the city. to hike, to visit national parks, the touristy hill tribes or the real things a bit further away, elephant and tiger refuges or at least the touristy places (but with still some merit) that they have largely become. and this is the most beautiful place that you could possibly base yourselves for the country and away from the city. the whole resort is landscaped as part of the botanical gardens it is within. the small zoo is good for an afternoon's entertainment, feeding emu's was a first for us and we still have all of our fingers. the lakes, ponds, pathways, trees and plants are truly beautiful though. on top of that they have a working multi-crop agricultural program going on there and we experienced several of the rice growing steps right beside our section of the complex. never with noise, thai people would never disturb you with noise. quiet and peaceful and a great location to explore further into the countryside from. maybe above thai guest house rates but it's such a special place that it's cheap in comparison to what you would expect to pay for such a place any where else.

Little paradise”

Clean rooms Beautiful Grounds Hot Breakfast Nice pool
Far from Town

Horizon Village is a nice place to get away. We had meetings earlier in the week downtown and decided to stay afterwards at Horizon Village. Being far from town was actually a bonus for us. We were able to soak in the sun and nature. The restaurant on site hada variety of choices. There is alfood cafeteria in the botanical gardens that work well for lunch. For other meals we were able to order from meals on wheels The rooms are clean, the breakfast is hot. It is great for families to come too. What more can I say!
