“I wanted to stay longer.”
I arrived around 8 PM, so the exterior and interior were dark, making me anxious about whether they were actually operating. I had only stayed in hotels in urban areas, so it was a bit of a culture shock, but it was exciting and enjoyable. Since it was the last day of the holiday, there were few people, and I was able to have the large public bath to myself around 9 PM and relax. The amenities in the bath and room were minimal (hairbrush, toothbrush, razor). Since it was nighttime, the cleaning had not been thorough, and there were several long hairs on all the chairs at the wash basins in the changing room, which was bothersome, so I used the hairdryer while standing. I was scared of bugs in the outdoor bath, so I wasn't able to relax in there; I hope they can improve the lighting situation. There was a moth that was exceptionally large, unlike anything I had seen before. In the morning, there were large bugs buzzing around, which was a bit disappointing (though being summer, a certain level of that is inevitable). On the other hand, the indoor bath was spacious and pleasant. I also had some concerns about the cleaning of the room (there was lint fallen in the toilet). It seemed that there wasn't much demand for single rooms, as there were noticeable maintenance issues (peeling wallpaper, dirty windows, etc.). The breakfast was incredibly delicious. There weren't many options, but there were several local dishes, all of which were tasty. I was particularly impressed by the damakko soup and the smoked daikon tartar, which were outstanding. Overall, it is an old hotel, so there are some inconveniences like the placement of the electrical outlets (there were none by the bedside), and there were no USB outlets. However, such a charming old large hotel is valuable, and I was able to enjoy that aspect as well. The only drawback is that there is a convenience store a short walk away, but at night, as I mentioned earlier, it is completely dark by 8 PM and there is a risk of bears, making it unsafe to go out. As a result, I couldn't pick up anything from the convenience store, so that's something to keep in mind. During the day, there was a roadside station in front with souvenir shops and light snacks, which was fun. I apologize for the lengthy comment, but I definitely plan to visit again.
