Stayed here for the second time. We were moved into a ground floor room, that smelt musty but thought it would be OK once opened up- as most rooms in Asia are. Overnight the smell did not abate and was overpowering, triggering my asthma. We asked to move rooms as we had a 6 night stay booked. Our feeling was this room was allocated as we had booked through Agoda. We were offered their best suite at a price for the upgrade which we did not take. It took a while to get a room similar but with light and air and no smell. Eventually one was found but we had to pay a fee to upgrade. Disappointing when all we wanted was a usable room. On the positive side, we returned due to a prior satisfactory experience. It is a lovely setting, a good location and good service. There is a great laundry ( Mrs Sa) and spa( Green Grass) directly opposite the hotel. Breakfast is always good, ate at the restaurant one wet night and it was reasonable. If you choose to stay here, ensure you book a room with airflow- probably the pool view rooms on the first floor. This hotel is only a few years old, but evidence of damp issues are already apparent.

So, we ended up at Lantana (on the wise recommendation of a friend) the day before the Typhoon Damrey flooding hit. Saturday afternoon, we drove up to the front gate on the road next to the river in a taxi. By Sunday there was no road to be seen and by Monday, the water was in the Lobby. And you know what? We never even considered checking out and going somewhere else. The staff here is simply the best of the best. They made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. They took note of our names right away and referred to us by them every time. They remembered the drinks we ordered (and enjoyed immensely) at Happy Hour and even what kind of eggs we ordered for breakfast. Every single thing was done with a smile on their faces, even when the circumstances were out of their control and less than ideal. When the flooding reached the lobby, we arrived downstairs in the morning to find that the breakfast buffet had calmly and simply been moved to the hallway on higher ground. Coffee was still hot and even eggs were still on order direct from the kitchen! Many of the staff members stayed at the hotel overnight several nights in a row. Some to cover for staff who couldn't make it in, we imagine, and others because they couldn't make it out to their own flooded homes anyway. Not once did we see a hint of frustration or annoyance or even the exhaustion they must have all been feeling. They worked TIRELESSLY and earned our business over and over again in every interaction we had with every single staff member. Our room was cleaned every day, our laundry was even done in a couple of hours on the worst day of the flooding, and it was all done with a general smile. We were so touched by Brian and his staff, including Anna, Lisa, Jessica, Nancy and many others whose names we failed to make note of, we literally cried leaving for the airport. We will NEVER forget our trip, will never stay anywhere else in Hoi An and will recommend this wonderful place over and over and over

I would say the stay at Little Hoi An was one of the best throughout our whole Vietnam trip, well maybe even better than any we had in Singapore. They had the best customer service, which me and my bf were really happy with. We were greeted with smiles and lots of useful information when we first checked in. All the staffs were really friendly and smiley, especially Hienn and Susan. The both of them were really helpful and went the extra miles to answer all of our needs, that really brightened our 3 nights stay there :) We had the deluxe room, though the view ain't that good, we thought that the room has a simple yet elegant decor. We were so satisfied with the room that we actually extended one more night to stay in Hoi An. The breakfast spread is not that large but definitely sufficient and really delicious. There's always staffs around to serve either bread, vietnamese crepe or iced coffee. Once again, we were overwhelmed by the awesome service rendered, really way better than what a typical 4 star hotel will offer. Lastly, the location is really awesome we thought, as we can always spend the evening walking from the romantic ancient town to our hotel. We enjoyed being near the locals, and yet able to enjoy the quiet moments with each other. Definitely going back to this hotel if we visit Hoi An in the future. Highly recommended!

Hotel was in a very nice setting along the side of the river hence the name but you never quite know what to expect. The staff were very friendly and helpful and when they saw i am pregnant at check in the moved our room as they thought it would be best? The room was very large with all the amenities you would expect from a 4 star hotel shampoo ect, minibar free bottled water, umberella very handy! It looked a little dated especially the bathroom due mostly to the dark wooden furniture which is just the Vietnamese style I think. It was a very good location only 5 min walk to old town and there was a free boat shuttle service. Free food tasting was good to find out what you like and dislike. Breakfast was the best in vietnam yet lots of choice western and Vietnamese and very nice. Overall excellent stay made nicer by all staff being so welcoming. There was always a good morning!

me and my wife are active hashers and great travellers. we have been travelling on a frequent basis to see different cultures,peoples, tribes and visited many countries.we have experienced stayng in 1 star up to 5star hotels but ving hung 1 hotel in hoi an vietnam is worth commenting.inspite of being a very old hotel with only 6 rooms all structures,flooring,walling,furnitures ect, were all constructed of mahagony timber which can be considered antique, they are well maintained,clean and room interior are real cosy. the few staffs are friendly and their ever willing to smile when we talk to them are an asset to the hotel.when asked where is the best place to eat cao lau and fried hoanh thanh[wonton]the staff without hesitation told us the shop and drew us the locality map direction.breakfast was satisfactory.we strongly this hotel to those who want to experience the hotel ambience with a difference.

This is quite a story: I booked a dormitory room at a hotel upon arrival in Hoi An. When I arrived the reception yesterday, I asked them what bed number am I assigned? And she said no you are the only one in the room but I said I took a shared room online. Then she insisted that I have like a standard room. So I thought I was moved to another room. Then had some biking around the city and decided to back in the hotel for breakfast. The staff approached me and said "I need to tell you about your booking" then I stopped her because I don't wanna be disturbed in my eating. I said can you let me finish first? I'll talk to you later after I'm done with my breakfast. After that I went to reception and said what was that again about my reservation? The lady said I was in the wrong room. At first, I knew that it was gonna be a dispute. Then I was thinking if I'm going to fire-up or taking it calm. Then, politely I explained everything what happened yesterday. I was so impressed with reception for admitting their fault. She said it was not my fault and whether I pay it or not it is okay. It is just happened that I have no extra budget left and later I'll be traveling down south to Da Lat and back to Saigon in few days. I highly recommend this Golden River Hotel to everyone. The staff were great and the room is complete and comfortable. Plus I admire the value for customer service. Sometimes life is like a mirror what you showed to others will reflect back to you, so keep calm and drink Viet coffee (with ice and milk please!) 😉 Highly recommended to everyone visiting Hoi An.❤️

i arrived at this hotel on monday 7th, amidst torrential rain. by nightfall the river had risen to thigh deep on the road outside. by morning the entire ground floor, lobby, pool and some of the first floor rooms at the back were under water. no way out except by boat. i had booked a week through agoda and was told no refund. almost everyone else evacuated. i went to town by boat but had to be back at 6pm they said. i returned to no power, no hot water and no food, nothing to do. the hotel does not have a generator. the next day i paid for a different hotel for 1 night. waters were receding. thursday i returned to find another guest leaving my room with my book in his hand. all my belongings were still in there. when i exploded over this the manageress tried to tell me they had a meeting in there that was all, when i clearly saw the guest with suitcase leaving, and all beds were used. she also lied about being able to give me a refund - that it was out of her hands as i booked through agoda. lucky i am a hotel manager and know this not to be true, which i informed her. i demanded two nights free as compensation, which i finally got. the poor staff had to work 3 days straight with 2 hours sleep and hardly any food provided. after moving guests and furniture upstairs all night, and dealing with evacuations all the next day, no sleep, they were made to clean by candlelight that night. so great hotel, but bad management.

Located in the Ancient City it is close to many cultural,religious attractions and to the bridges that take you out of the ancient city. these bridges are very interesting in their construction and age. the hotel is close to the main market where you can but good cheap food and fruit. There is a local market also nearby but we got very hassled by dressmakers and shoe sellers that we avoided it where possible.the large market was a joy to wander around with no one hassling. There are local and european restaurants all through the city but we preferred the local food at the market. coffee is good anywhere and very reasonably price. The prices for most things are more expensive in Hoi Nnn than in Hue.

We stayed in a twin room on the second floor. It was incredibly spacious with a modern TV, mini fridge, desk and wardrobe. Aircon worked wonderfully and the beds and pillows were comfortable. Room is also cleaned daily with fresh towels. The true star of the hotel is the bathroom. Absolutely beautiful rainfall shower head and handheld option. The shower is enclosed and seperate from the toilet. The wifi is the fastest we've had in Asia. Location cannot be faulted, in walking distance to absolutely anything in the Hoi An centre. The free breakfast isn't that impressive. It's a 5 or so minute walk to Tanh Binh 3, where there is also a pool you can use. The younger male and female receptionists were wonderful and always willing to help. We are sad to not remember their names. She even organised our bus to Hue at a great price. She also booked us a great tour to the My Son temples with a scenic boat ride back to the city centre, we would definitely recommend this tour option. There was one receptionist who seemed to hassle us every time we walked in and out of the hotel attempting to sell us tours. He even tried to overcharge us for the our laundry. But once we clued on to his attitude we chose to wait until the friendlier staff were at reception until we asked any questions. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone - it's cheaper than many of the hostels in the area!!!
