This place was one of the best places I have stayed and would totally recommend to any travelers. Everything was within a 5 min walk from the main clubs to some really good food spots and even the main temple in old town. It has excellent wifi, a good hang out location on a balcony that overviews the main street. You can rarely hear the noise from the street and if you need to change money there is a exchange office right next door. I originally booked 1 night and extend my stay the entire 8 days I was in Chiang Mai. Plus the stuff are very friendly and helpful as they will help carry your luggage to your room. The best part is they even sell beer in the lobby downstairs. I had multiple friends i met come in to hangout and they said they would of book there if they knew how nice it was. If i could give it a higher rating I would. Thank you Iris Hostel.

Stylish digs, great locale, friendly staff”

I really enjoyed my stay at Iris Hostel. The location was extremely easy for getting around the Old City. The only downside of the location is the street noises can be loud. I didn't have trouble sleeping through it, but it was noticable. The staff was very friendly and made us feel welcome and like we were at home. The rooms and bathrooms had a cool style, better than most hostels at this price. The beds were hard as rocks, but this seems to be a trend in Thailand. The bathrooms were useable, but the showers could have been cleaner. Thanks for a great stay!

Excellent value stay in central Chiang Mai”

Great stay at Iris Hostel. The hostel is centrally located in Chiang Mai, on the eastern edge of the Old City. It's a great location for getting about, with lots of amenities nearby. The only downside, which came hand-in-hand with the central location, was that our room seemed a little noisy at night. For a busy hostel, it was comparatively clean and well maintained and the staff were friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend to other budget travellers.

The best ever!!”

Literally the best hostel I have stayed in Chiang Mai , location is great very close to everything literally !! The hostel was so clean from the toilets to the rooms as the staff were always cleaning. It feels Like an apartment the people around staying was also very nice People and respectfully. You have a space to relax outside your room it’s like a living room with tv and chairs. The toilets were literally the best and comes with hairdryers and shower gel. The reception staff was so lovely and she’s made our stay the best she’s also very funny. Also there’s another lady in the information area in the hostel where you can book activities and she will show you genuine prices both lovely ladies. Can’t wait to be back again when back in Chiang mai!!!

great place”

I had a great stay at Iris Hostel. You are located at the edge of the old city centre, and can reach everything quickly. The hostel is very clean tired and simply nice. The staff can speak english and support where it can. The shower is a bit weak, however that is at many places. Aside from that, there is NOTHING to say bad about that place. Whenever i will come back to chiangmai, i will check in again at Iris Hostel !!

Exceptional”

My stay at Iris hostel was great. The beds were very comfortable and AC was great. All of the facilities were very clean as well. Booking tours from the hostel was simple and cheap and the tours were awesome. I did a 2 day trek through the jungle with bamboo rafting and an elephant sanctuary for a killer price, well worth it. Viss at the front desk was AWESOME, super nice and helpful. Even helped me book my flights down to Koh Samui when my foreign credit didn’t work with the local airlines. He went above and beyond making my stay that more enjoyable.

A nice place in a nice area”

The Iris hotel was really the greatest. The smiley staff was so friendly and so helpful. The room was nice, but all the sound from the street and from the apartment above came in. Otherwise, nothing wrong with the room or the hostel! And there is free clean water and they have a washing machine for a small price. It is near to a market that sells a lot of fruits, saggy pants and sarongs day in the same street is it a lot of lovely restaurants, many of them offer much vegan and vegetarian food.

Clean, Good Location and Nice Staff”

The place has everything a backpacker wants. Clean room, comfortable bed, enough toilets and shower rooms, good location within the old city area and food stalls just walking distance from the hostel. Lovely place to stay in Chiang Mai!

Good place to be with big rooms and common area. Although the common area is without windows it's super loud being on the main big street right inside old city by the river. Didn't bother me while sleeping though. Cute place somehow. Chic pink towels and stylish bathroom. Very good cookies and tea for free. Nescoffee I don't support though. Don't worry Chiang Mai has amazing coffee places everywhere. Location is good besides the busy street. If you don't mind that, go for it!

I would stay a third time! ”

We stayed two times (in total 5 nights) at Iris Hostel and it was amazing! The owner and staff is really friendly and helpful; comfy beds; balcony; locker; washing machine; useful facility; free shampoo, coffee, tee, water, jam, cookies; ... the bathroom and whole hostel was always clean! Fantastic hostel, great location, excellent price”

Iris hostel is an absolute gem - highly recommended! Rooms are good value, high quality, have comfy beds, good air conditioning, VIP room has a private bathroom and balcony. Staff were helpful and friendly, helped us book a Thai cooking class and transfer to Pai. Do not hesitate, book this hostel!

The room we had was even bigger and better than the pictures. It is easy to find and it is easy to get around from this hostel. There is a washing machine available, a nice common room and we had our own balcony with our room. The owner is really sweet and helped us booked a scooter for our further travel and let us store some luggage until we come back a week later. The only con is that we never figured out how to get some hot water in our shower. (The weather is colder in january no need for a cold shower !) We liked it some much we already booked it for how next stay in Chiang mai !

Beeautiful rooms and facilities, everything looked brand new. Super friendly staff and were were also upgraded to room w/ private bathroom! Great central location close to good restaurants, cafes and markets. We stayed an extra night and will 100% return when back in Chiang Mai! Thanks again for a great stay!

Iris hostel is very near Phapae Gate and easy to walk around old town of Chiangmai , near some food street shop and 7-eleven , very clean big room . Freindly staffs and value for backpaker, group of friends , couple and single

Inappropriate staff behaviour (harrassment)”

One of the receptionist (gay) was a little too friendly towards male guests. We brushed it off as playfulness but there was always an uncomfortable feeling when around him. One night, this staff member got drunk and at midnight entered the dorm room, came up to my bed and asked me if was drunk. Needless to say I felt very shocked as my space, safety and security was compromised/threatened. I complained to the hostel manager the next morning who then confronted his staff member, of which he denied ever going into the dorm room. As I was checking out they said they will review security footage (cctv) to investigate further. I don't know what the outcome is, but they will find that he did enter the dorm room, confirming he is also a liar. When a guest pays for accommodation, they are not just paying for a bed/room, but also comfort, safety and security. When that is breached by staff, then trust is lost. No guest should have to feel unsafe/uncomfortable. I do hope they fire this creepy sleaze. It's obvious he uses his position in the hostel as his own personal Grindr. Apart from this incident I had no problems at this hostel. Such a shame that all the hard work by the owner and other staff has been riuned by this one staff member.

Amazing staff and position”

The first amazing thing about Iris hostel is Jo,the lady at the reception. She is always attent to everyrhing,super nice and helpful. Than, rooms are big and bed comfortable. Clening ladies are constantly sweeping and mopping the floor. Position is great. Couldn t be any better

Amazing Hostel in Chiang Mai city center”

The dorm rooms were very clean and had AC almost so much that maybe it was a little cold, but perfect. Bathroom was a mixed one with stalls of showers and toilets, so clean and nice looking. Common area wasn’t under AC because you could sit have a free coffee looking out at the street. The staff was amazing gave us great tips when and where to go, they even let us store our bags there while we visited Pai for a couple days. This hostel was better then some of our hotels, I highly recommend it

Sleeping in the heart of Chiangmai”

Good location, in the area of old city, closed to all of interesting spots, easy to find for eating, drinking, there is a restaurant and bar on the ground floor that are able to order meals to eat in the room, big size of a private double room with bathroom and balcony, clean ,comfy bed, cool air-conditioned, no ice box and no TV, but it does not matter for a solo budget traveler, there are a big refrigerator at the hall way that is able to put our food and drink. there also have provided microwave and fridge at hostel lobby too, thank you so much for a service mind girl who help me at the desk upon arrival, appreciated for helping, and friendly Manager upon my departure, surely I will be back here again for my next Chiangmai trip.
