Comfy room, great location and attentive staff”

Great location, Comfy room and great breakfast

Our experience at Suriwongse Hotel was great. Initially, I was sceptical of the hotel due to its above average internet reviews. However, after my 4-night stay at the hotel, I felt it was fantastic. My friends even commented that it was great that I had picked to stay in this hotel. It is just a few steps away from the busy street of Chiangmai Night Bazaar and yet away from the noisy crowd. It is also within walking distance from the Old City and Chinatown where you can walk over within 15 min while able to see unique cafes and nice boutiques along the way. Hotel staff were attentive and polite. Their services were very prompt. Their breakfast buffet spread was also fantastic. WiFi was not as bad as some reviewers had commented and most importantly it was free and unlimited. It had also a wide range of local and international TV channels. It is definitely moving closer to achieve its Movenpick hotel status and hope that it can achieve soon. Definitely going to recommend to friends and relatives. Will definitely return to this hotel soon! :)

Solitude at the Suriwongse Hotel”

Comfort, location, affordability, great service and very good food.
No pool

This was a great find for us. We have stayed in Chiang Mai before in a similar location, but the Suriwongse Hotel is great value for money. The accommodation is excellent! We were upgraded to a Suite on the sixth floor which was very well appointed, comfortable and the room service, just great. The location, right in the middle of the night markets and within easy walking distance to the old city makes this hotel a great option for families, couples and groups. The Hotel has a good restaurant, Bistro and bar. Additionally, there is a good Internet Cafe and two tourist desks. We thought that the service was friendly and efficient and all of the staff we met were helpful. The Bonus was the Friday Night Food Fair which for 100 baht per person provided a good opportunity to try North Thailand Cuisine. I was so impressed with the attentiveness of the staff, the quality of the food and value for money. I have advised my friends to stay at the Suriwongse Hotel when next in Chiang Mai, as we will.

A great place to stay”

Staff, location, check in

Suriwongse Hotel is a great place to stay for anyone planning their first trip to Chiang Mai. It is located away from the main downtown but close to the Old City and the night bazaar. The room was great! Large room, clean and quiet. The staff is simply fantastic. There is a tourist information desk in the lobby and the people manning the desk are very helpful. This will be my go-to hotel for all future trips to Chiang Mai. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Stay”

location, location, location

My husband and I stayed at Suriwongse during our time in Chiang Mai and enjoyed it. We were picked up at the airport by the shuttle and were offered wet towels and small bottles of water. It took approximately 15mins to get to our hotel. At the hotel, we were served juice while checking in. The entire hotel had a floral scent which was pleasant but could be difficult for those with sensitive nose. Take note that the shuttle bus is not complimentary to and from the airport. It's only free to local shops and the mall. We only found out after arriving, that there was a fee for this service. 250 Baht each way. So if you book through a third party website like Agoda, the section that requests for your arrival flight information may not necessarily mean the pick up is free. Our room was in the newly renovated wing and was beautifully decorated and clean. We found the bathroom itself was a bit cramped but had a huge shower stall. We found the fridge was not cold, only cool and wifi signal was weak at spots within the room. It was nice that we received 2 large bottles of water for each day we stayed. The breakfast buffet had a nice variety of western and Asian food. Everything was nicely displayed and labelled. The staff were all friendly and smiley. We asked for a boxed breakfast on the morning of our checkout due to an early flight, which they happily provided even though they didn't have to since the breakfast was open before our checkout time. This hotel is conveniently located right beside the night market, walkable to the gates of the old city (though a bit far), and nearby many variety stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and yes, even Starbucks and McDonalds. Stayed July 2013, travelled as a couple

Best Hotel in Chiang Mai”

Great Rooms, Great Serveices, Great Location

when i read about those reviews left by previous travelers, i am skeptic about the conditions of the hotel and i actually regretted the booking but when i first step foot into the hotel, everything change. the staff at the front desk was so nice and patience. (my cousin request to change room due to she was put into the old wing) no fuss was made about the changes. the room was huge as it show in the photo with all the toiletries for you (i bought some myself because of the false review), the bath and the shower was great. the service staffs was friendly and helpful, they actually ran a few times just to satisfy our needs of extra pillows. breakfast is most enjoyable with many variety to choose from and we actually ate so much breakfast that we forgo our lunch. this is the type of hotel that make you come back every time and you will not believe how it will turn out after it fully renovate. it will be one of the best hotel right in the center of the night bazaar of chiang mai which is just right outside the door step.

Excellent, Comfortable, Cozy”

Great Location, Friendly Staff, Big Deluxe Room

After two nights of stay at the Superior Room, it was very nice of the hotel staff to upgrade my wife and my parents to Deluxe Room. I want to thank the hotel for the great service provided. Needless to say, the Deluxe Room was huge and it was really a pleasant stay for my parents and my wife. A tip is that the Hotel main entrance is located at Loi Khor Road Lane 4 and not at the main road of Loi Khor Road or Chang Klan Road. I will definitely put Suriwongse Hotel as a top choice for my next trip to Chiang Mai.

nice hotel, good staff, great location”

location is right in the heart of the night bazaar

note to self dont write reviews while suffering jetlag lol, sorry the review i wrote below was for the sukhumvit suites so please disregard info about asok bts it is actually quite a long walk from the front of hotel lol. Well our stay at suriwongse hotel was lovely from the moment we checked in the staff were helpful and very friendly and the staff in the restaurant were lovely always happy to see you in the mornings for breakfast, there was some construction work being carried out at the hotel they are currently refurbishing the front section of the hotel, but you were never disturbed by any of the work being carried out it was all very well concealed and it had no impact on our stay there at all. the location is great we enjoyed our nightly walk through the night bazaar after dinner, and you never had too far to carry your shopping, the airport transfer service was good and cheap by comparison to other hotels, the tour counter staff were lovely but the tours were a little more expensive than some of the other tour operators in chang mai, the only negatives about our stay and these are really only minor things but the breakfast variety was limited the food was ok just not a lot to choose from, but then it is low season too, the other thing is that safety deposit boxes are not available in all rooms, the wing we were in they were only available in rooms on the 7th and 8th floors. but all in all i would be more than happy to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Hotel with the Night Bazaar just a footstep away.”

Very close to the Night Bazaar

had a wonderful 4 nights stay at suriwongse hotel. the staff was kind enough to allow us to check-in, accommodating our early arrival. not only that, our booking of a standard room was upgraded to deluxe - that was a pleasant surprise. the staff were all friendly and very helpful. if your holiday is about shopping at the night bazaar, then this is the perfect hotel for you. in the daytime, there's also the free shuttle service to the largest shopping complex in chiang mai. and of course there are many massage centres to soothe your aching legs just outside the hotel.

Great location, large comfortable rooms”

Opposite Night Bazar

By far this hotel is the best value and best location for the quality of rooms and services offered in Chiang Mai. The hotel was recently purchased by Movenpick and is being rebranded and renovated, although there was minimal inconvenience from the renovation. I have stayed there many times in the past and the new staff are much more friendly and customer orientated, going out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Above average breakfast buffet, extra large quiet, clean rooms with all the modern conveniences. As soon as you exit the hotel, you are in the middle of the Night Bazar and evening entertainment areas.

Lovely hotel, lovely service and great location”

Helpful and courteous staff especially the front desk, speak and understand English. Hotel very near the Ban Haw Mosque.

when i choose the suriwongse hotel for my stay in chiang mai it was because the hotel is very near the ban haw mosque hence there must be a muslim community nearby. being a muslim halal food is of utmost importance. i was ready for for a small room or any other discomfort that i might encountered. but i was really in for a surprise! you see,i was booked for a standard room for 2 persons for 3 nights. i arrived at the hotel from the airport at 9.30 a.m.there was no problem with the agoda's hotel voucher. i was politely and professionaly imformed that my room would be ready in an hour and i could leave my luggage at the while i take a stroll. i politely declined and imformed the reception that i was tired having to go to the lcc terminal at 3.00a.m. and would it be possible to check-in as soon as possible. to my surprise my request was granted and not only that they gave me a beautiful superior room for no extra charges.the room was spacious, comfortable and clean with the usual coffee making facilities. 2 bottles of complimentary drinking water everyday. the bathroom was clean and stocked with the usual toiletries.there's wifi service at the hotel lobby. all in all a great place to stay.

Central, Shopping, Adventure”

Breakfast, Friendly Staff, Location

We enjoyed our stay at Suriwongse Hotel, its in a great centrally located spot with the Night Bazaar right on your door step. Easy to get around the city with loads of taxi's and Tuk tuk drivers eager to take you where ever you need to go. The breakfast was good with all the usual buffet delights. The staff were super friendly and always willing to help. Room was clean and had all you the basics, only thing we wouldn't go back for is the bed...was a little too firm for our liking but a great hotel!!!

Classy hotel with professional staff.”

Hotel is oddly located behind corner pub right across street from the Le Meridian Hotel, easy to miss.

This hotel is hard to find (took two times to go around block before entrance to lobby was located in an alley behind what they purportedly use for a "main" entrance. That is, they have this entrance which is really just a set of doors attached to a LONG hallway to the lobby that makes you think at first you are in the wrong place. As you keep walking, you eventually find yourself in the lobby where the layout really is nice and the staff is English speaking and professional. The accomodations were very nice with some rooms larger than others with the layout between the rooms being the same (rented two rooms, so can comment on this). Most taxi drivers seem to have trouble with finding this hotel, so just tell them Le Meridian or Centara as this hotel is kattykorner to both of these huge hotels which define the Chiang Mai skyline. Really no complaints about the place, which for its odd lobby layout, the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are swanky (good). Do NOT use the lobby tour guide for trips which price you at least DOUBLE what you can get yourself being a non-Thai speaker. A simple walk-around the block nets you better deals by over 50% off what the hotel is quoting you. The same goes for taxi rides. Do yourself a favor and stick your neck out a bit to save WAY more money than not.

Very friendly staff, professionally managed hotel”

Good location, close to food vendors and shopping.

hotel very clean as advertised, very good healthy breakfast with both continental and thai selections. the only issue was on the top floor (8th) sever leakage of rain into the bathroom and hallway occurred during a storm which could possible lead to mold and mildew if not repaired, overall, i enjoied my stay at suriwongse hotel, chiang mai, thailand.

simply wonderful”

location, staff and quality

This is by far my favourite hotel in Chiang Mai to date. I was greeted very warmly by very helpful staff who assisted my check in despite the fact I was hours early due to my own fault. The hotel upgraded me free of charge to facilitate me. I was guided to my room by a very welcoming gentleman and I was very pleased to find that all the staff spoke to me clearly and confidently in English. The room was beautifully presented and everything was in good working order. The hotel is situated on the night bazaar and loud and popular location however this hotel is the most peaceful place I have stayed in that area and I have stayed in this area many times now. To say that I was impressed with this hotel would be an understatement. I intend to stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

Good hotel and great location”

I stayed here for almost a week for my 1st trip to Chiang Mai. The hotel is in a great location as I wanted to to check out the nightlife as its on the main bar street though its in the main city centre of new town with the Chiang mai night bazaar within walking distance which is a must see as well as heaps of shops cafés and restaurant's the WiFi wasn't extremely strong in my room on the 2nd floor ( last room in the corridor ) but still usable and room cleaning service wasn't done until the end of the day around 5pm but apart from that was a great stay and I'll be staying again definitely as the staff are great there
