Relaxing Time at a beautiful place”
had a nice relaxing time at Okada. Loved the orchid floral arrangements around, lighting fixtures, ambiance & decor. The grand deluxe king room with the fountain view was huge and modern amenities are great! bed had the right firmness and very comfortable with soft, clean sheets & dreamy pillows. love the soaking tub, automatic bidet, pleasant scented toiletries, robe & disposable slippers. Sofa in the living room area was not very comfortable and fabric has some fray on the edges, including the chair. Enjoyed the fountain show as well though we can't hear the music from the room. A friend dropped us off so we parked prior to checking in. When our bags were through the x-ray machine, guards noticed we had a Bluetooth speaker. They had us open our luggage to remove the speaker noting that it is not allowed in the hotel. (policy). They said they will hold it until we check out. This is odd because we have traveled in several counties & stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world but not once did someone "confiscate" the same Bose Bluetooth speaker. We decided to leave the speaker in my friends SUV so he had to walk back to the parking lot with it. The guards then escorted us to the Coral Wing front desk. We were asked to wait in line as they were still helping someone. We checked in past 5 pm and had to wait did a whole because the front staff were having difficulty communicating with the guest. There were 3 staff members in the counter. The 4th person came and stayed with us while we waited in line and asked for our passport to help expedite the check-in process. After a while, another front desk member came in who was finally able to help. So with a total of 4-5 people in the front desk, it took a significant amount of time to check us in. While checking in, we asked if the hotel has a car or shuttle service to the airport so we can pre-book. We were told that we can book through Grab ( staff can help). Another odd observation: a 5-star hotel does not have a car service to the airport? After dinner we out of the hotel and brought in the Bluetooth speaker coming back, passed through the x-ray machine and went through without any problems at the Pearl Wing entrance. Despite these hiccups, we enjoyed our stay and dining experience at the hotel. We also enjoyed the pool and our spa treatment. Staff are overall friendly, pleasant & respectful. Dining options were great too! Loved the cheese room and person in charge was knowledgeable! Only comment on the breakfast buffet is that the kakanin (cassava wrapped in banana leaf) was cold, making it chewy/rubbery. A small steamer nearby would have been handy to reheat. It took a long while to get the espresso. The self-serve espresso bar was open the first day but off the second day. The Cove is nice but service was slow. The fresh young coconut was so bland, the water hardly had any characteristic coconut water taste. The lady guest near our lounge chairs was claiming that the chairs were reserved but from the time we arrived to the time we left, no one used/sat the lounge chairs she was "reserving". Service at the outdoor pool, spa, Kappou Imamura was prompt & great! Everyone was pleasant & anticipated our needs.
