D.I. Yogyakarta hotels & places to stay

First stay at Tentrem Hotel for attending Int'l Conference in August 2017. I asked my wife and 2 kids to accompany me and we've stayed at the Executive Twin Room (this was the only 2 rooms left due to high season and the conference). Tentrem Hotel was truly presenting a genuine Yogyakarta. It was peaceful (feels tentrem just like Yogyakarta city :) ), it has great facilities, suprb SidoMuncul ice cream and excellent breakfast options. We've all enjoying the room, facilities (swimming pool, kids playground), room-service, breakfast and the helpful staffs. Location near Tugu, very strategic. Surely will comeback to Tentrem while we visit Yogyakarta for our next trip. Thank you Tentrem. Keep up the good work and performance. My suggestion: please book way earlier before your trip because this Hotel is highly in demand, especially after Obama stayed here.

This is the best hotel we ever stayed. The staff are very friendly, helpful and thoughtful. We request for a morning call as our daily tour start as early as 4:00AM local time and the front desk staff never failed to follow up with us about the our preferred breakfast so that they can get their chef to prepared for us to take out. The breakfast is a complimentary with the room we booked and yet the staff is thoughtful to prepared it for us. I think the manager really train their staff well to understand the true meaning of hospitality where even a 5 star hotel might able to provide this kind of heartfelt service. The room is very clean and the bed is super comfy. Daily room service to tidy up our room was given an excellent service as well. This is a worth staying hotel as a very reasonable price lets not mentioned their buffer breakfast where we manage to enjoy it on the last day of our vacation. The hotel staffs speak better English than the other 5 star Yogyakarta hotel I stayed in (the other one can't even answer how much does it cost to make a local phone call). Guys at concieige helped arrange taxi and advanced ticket purchase to shows instead of trying to sell us one of their hotel packages. Our room is down the hallway with bad wifi reception. After a call to the front desk, a tech guy came to help solve the problem and installed another router closer to our room. It doesn't really help but at least they tried. Shopping mall next door just made my day.

We lodged in two rooms, one single room on 3rd floor with spacious comfortable bed, clean, neat, though small but very well arranged. Other two bed room on 2nd floor for my two growing boys. Its a modest stay, perfectly match with the location and surrounding. Breakfast is good and sufficient, only need to find the right time to get a nice table near the pool, otherwise the resto is too small for the many guests they have. Staffs are very nice, fast and competent, even to organize and get my rented car parked and retrieved from somewhere, as the parking place in front of the hotel is too small for more than 10cars. The street is narrow and need to be patient for getting in and out with cars, but its yogyakarta anyway, enjoyfull. There is prawirotaman tradisional market at one side of the hotel, the street will be blocked from that end during early morning time. in all, a good priced, well located, artistic and nice hotel, with its forgetable minus.

To sum up, this hotel is simply amazing from all point of view. Personally I would say this could be one of the best hotel in Yogyakarta and one of the best that we have stayed throughout our travel around the world. Excellent hospitality from the point of check in to check out. The hotel is located 0.5km from the biggest shopping mall in Yogyakarta (the Ambarukmo Mall). The hotel provides complimentary shuttle services to Ambarukmo Mall/ Lippo Mall and also to the famous Malioboro street shopping district. Malioboro street is around 20 minutes ride from the hotel. Room: We stayed in the premier double room. The room is clean, comfy and huge, The birthday setting was superb with personal touch from the hotel staffs. Cleanliness it top notch. Common area: No matter which corner you walk to, the entire hotel is clean and shining at all times. 6 star! Check out their green house/hydroponic garden. A must see. Pool: Big, clean and suitable for both adults and children. Breakfast: One of the best spread that we have seen. Overall it exceeded our expectations. From Indian food, to local and western, name it and they have it all right there. Complimentary cakes, cappuccino or even espresso!!! I will take some time to honour the following hotel staffs who had gone beyond their time and effort to ensure we had a fantastic stay: 1. Via - Verandah Restaurant - Excellent personal touch in preparing our cocktail. Very attentive and humble, 2. Jasmine - Retreat Spa -Though we didn't use the spa this time, the spa looked amazing. She took the time to take me for a tour and a personal thanks to her for recommending a nice hangout spot to chill out in town. 3. Retno - She was simply fantastic. From the point we arrived at the hotel, she was right there waiting for us to ensure that we had a smooth check in. She treated us with Bak Pia while waiting for our check in. The best part, she brought the birthday cake to our room to surprise my wife with a birthday song. Best birthda

This hotel gave us the best time in our first trip to Indonesia and Yogyakarta. I would like to specifically commend the staff who assisted us in every way they can - Supriyanto, Victor, Tya, Vriska, Debbie and the shuttle driver who took us to the airport (didn't get his name). Everything is perfect from check-in to check-out. So hassle free and very professional in their service. It's very close to the airport but a bit far from the central Malioboro. Our vacation is perfect because of this hotel. Real value for money. The only thing that I can complain about is the dining/breakfast - hope to have more variety each day. And our last dine-in, we got a very tough meat (lamb and beef). Other than this, all is just perfect!

I have to change hotel at Yogyakarta because the previous one was a disaster, and finally we choose to stay here on our 3rd day at Yogyakarta. We were very happy we did change to Melia Purosani Hotel since this hotel offer us the most comforting space for us to stay! The room was spacious, clean, had everything we need and maintained well. We also tried for the spa service and it was so nice! The staffs are all very nice and accommodating. I recommend this hotel to families who'd like to enjoy wonderful time together at the hotel since this hotel offers so many varieties of families' accommodation. Thank you Melia Purosani Hotel!

We booked four rooms during our trip to Yogyakarta. The staffs are amazing, they do their best to meet our needs. We requested for connecting rooms and they fulfil our request. We love the pools and also the outdoor garden. The only improvement for them is to clean the room carpet as stains are visible. We had wedang ronde (ginger drink) at night and the peanut we had were stale and they have no kolang kaling / palm fruit / atap seed. We didnt have breakfast there so I can't comment on that. The hotel is located within walking distance from malioboro street, but far enough so we were not stuck in traffic. Nearby the hotel, there is a gudeg place that is nice and cheap. We love our stays there and will come back again when we go to Yogyakarta

A stylish, new hotel (at time of writing 9 months open), well-intentioned with a romantic setting situated in a main street of Yogyakarta. Staff very helpful. At additional price early check-in possible. Spacious beds with thick mattresses. Bar available, although poorly stocked. Restaurant gets full quickly, also by outside reservations, leaving hotel guests no other choice than eating outside. Clean and spotless bathroom, generous breakfast.

This is a new hotel. Lucky for us! The hotel upgraded our reservation from a deluxe room to an executive room for free without additional charge. At that time because the deluxe room on high floor is not available. The staff hotel are friendly and the room is clean and comfort to stay.. The location is quite near from Malioboro and Yogyakarta Palace ... It is about ten minutes walk. And if you need Bakpia Pathok for a gift from Yogyakarta, the location is also near too..

Of all the three Yogyakarta hotels that we stayed, Grand Aston was our firm favourite. Although we had an initial glitch with one of the lady receptionist when checking in, it was soon forgiven with the quality service of the other staff. One shining example was Mr. Hakim, Grand Aston gym instructor. Being on holiday, we wanted to have our fitness checked amidst the food feast. On top of giving us advices on workout routines and diet plans for the four days we were there, he also gave us local tips. The entire lobby staff , except for the grumpy one who checked us in, were very helpful. We were asking so many questions and were taking up their time, but we were always treated patiently and was never rushed. We were also pleased with Pejamata spa, affordable and most importantly, good and relaxing. We highly recommend Grand Aston Yogyakarta and are looking forward to our next stay in Aston Makassar.

Marriott Yogyakarta is a very exceptional hotel. Although it's located quite a distance from the city central (a.k.a. Malioboro), but if you want to find some peace and quite, this is the right place to be. Don't worry about food, Hartono Mall is just a few steps away (adjacent) from the hotel. My kids (ages 12 and 10) love love love this Hotel. The staff is exceptionally friendly and fast service all the time. My appreciation goes especially to mba Evi (Reception/Front Desk), mas Candra (Concierge), mba Ella (Yogyakarta Kitchen)...they were all very friendly and helpful. I sometimes go to a hotel which has excellent reviews and wonder why I don't get the same experience- this place met all the expectations which had been created through the reviews. From check in- where staff were cheerful and efficient to checkout our experience was fantastic. The rooms are more than comfortable everything one would expect- the breakfast is amazing, the pool is beautiful (though hot in the middle of the day) staff are some of the best we have come across in many travels to the region-better than many higher rating hotels. Location makes the experiences of Yogyakarta accessible and as business travellers the access to facilities was second to none. We would wholeheartedly recommend the hotel and will most definitely book here again .

Me and my wife had a very pleasant stay at Ibis hotel. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. It had nice and comfortable room for couple like us. Even though the hotel is very near (walkable) to shopping area - Malioboro road - the hotel surrounding is a bit quiet once you enter the hotel lobby. And of course the hotel is very near to many historical places in Yogyakarta and we also don't have any issue with the transport. You can get it easily outside the hotel. Even though not many choices, the breakfast overall is very good. The only things that need to be improved is the internet connection in the room. It difficult to get connected. You have to go to lobby or garden area for better connection. We have travel many places, and I would say Ibis Styles Yogyakarta is one of the best we have stay and I would like to recommend to other people especially couple to choose this hotel if ever you visit this great Yogyakarta city. We enjoyed our week at this hotel and had a really good time using it as a base for trips around Yogyakarta (Borobodur, Prambanan, Yogyakarta city). The lake view rooms are great as you can watch the fish swim past your room or even feed them (great for kids). Everything was in good condition and well tended, the breakfast buffet was huge with a lot of different things to choose from. Things to know: There isn't much to do within walking distance of the hotel (apart from eating at the Westlake Resto), so you do need transport for everything else (not a problem though, just use Grab or BlueBird). You can have your clothes cleaned at Mama Laundry on the main road, but brush up your Indonesian as the owner doesn't speak much English (you'll manage though). Don't be afraid to ask for a knife at breakfast, they actually do have knives (at least one :-))!

it is my 2nd stay at this hotel, friendly and polite staffs. Clean room, comfy bed and breakfast is ok. Hotel located at the heart of Yogyakarta Malioboro. Easy access to everywhere, shopping malls, restaurants and local culinary streets food. Opposite is the Yogyakarta train station, mind with the sound of the train. Will stay here again for my next visit to Yogyakarta.

The room was spacious and very clean, the breakfast had a great variety of Western and Indonesian food (juice bar, eggs, cereals and much more). But the best thing about Grand Ambarrukmo was definitely the staff: Extremely friendly, attentive and helpful, they eben made us sandwiches for our flight which was early in the morning so we didn‘t have time for the regular breakfast buffet. Grand Ambarrukmo is located fairly close to the airport but a bit away from Malioboro Street or Prawirotaman. It didn‘t really matter to us because the area was nice and taking a cab is cheap! Would definitely recommend anytime!

Over the past year we have spent 3 months travelling throughout SE Asia and this hotel is my favorite of any place we have stayed. The hotel looks brand new. From the location, the facilities, cleanliness and the value for money, this hotel simply can't be beat! But if that isn't enough, the staff here are some of the most friendly, helpful we have met anywhere. We felt like we received the service one would expect from a 5 star resort. We felt like we were were part of the family. And thanks to some Javanese language lessons from the head chef, our entire trip will be one we will never forget! You simply won't find a better hotel for the money. In fact, I doubt you could find a better hotel for twice the money! I can't wait to come back some day.

It was nice staying 4 nights at Sahid Hotel Yogyakarta. The location is good as it is integrated with Yogya City Walk Mall Babarsari and close to Atma Jaya University, UPN and also to Prambanan Temple or road to Solo and Magelang. The building is new but he room is small. The menu is great and delicious. I think it was worth it staying at the 4 Stars Hotel but price 2 Stars Hotel 😁

I stay at Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta hotel for 4D3N. Nice resort with a lot of activity provided for whole family. The scenery & hotel decoration is fantastic. They serve welcome drinks upon arrival. Although this resort location is far from Yogyakarta city, but they have Complimentary shuttle to Malioboro Street which is the center of the city. Breakfast is little bit disappointed due to same menu every day. They serve breakfast from 6am-10.30am. make sure you go for breakfast at 6am because they did not top-up the food.

Before choosing my accomodation for my stay in Yogyakarta, I had checked out the Customer Reviews for the various hotels listed by Agoda. The reviews for the Phoenix were mainly positive but one can never ever be sure until one gets to experience the hotel personally. And what a wonderful and memorable experience it was. The Phoenix comes with all the amenities and trappings that one would expect from any modern hotel but it retains an old world charm that would endear it to any discerning guest. It's a pity that I did not get to try out its spa or its gym, due to a packed itinerary that included a pre-sunrise climb up Mt Merapi and excursions to Borobudur and Prambanan, but there is no doubting the excellent level of room comfort and, except for the problem i had with securing smaller denominations of the local currency, the admirable promptness of response whenever I had a service request. The location of the hotel was excellent, with a 24-hour convenience store less than 100 metres away, beside which is the Tiga Nyonya Restaurant, an oasis of epicurean delights. The Malioboro Street, the main shopping street in Jogja was also nearby as was the Kraton (the Sultan's Palace). While I usually eat outside of any hotels that i stay in, i did have one meal sent up to my room - Mangut Kerapu Lolos Duri, a dish based on an ancient Yogyakarta recipe, which was served with steam rice and, on request, a not insignificant portion of sambal terasi. It turned out to be one of the best meals that i had during my stay in Jogja. The staff members were very welcoming and always had a smile on their faces. When i had asked for names and locations of good restaurants offering local fare, the recommendation provided by one of the hotel staff was spot on and led to my enjoying a simple, inexpensive yet delicious lunch of rice with bebek goreng (fried duck) at a nearby eatery. In summary, the Phhoenix is a hotel that i would highly recommend to any visitor to Jogja. Expectations of
