Lower Normandy hotels & accommodations

We had a wonderful stay here in Hotel Vert. Excellent and convenient location, just a 3 minute walk from the bus stop(we came from Rennes). Grocery store and restaurants are beside the hotel. Free shuttle bus to/from MSM is just in front of the hotel. Staff are nice, friendly and helpful. The room was sparkling clean. I would recommend this place to my family and frien...

Located in the hotel area which was private and very close to Mont St. Michel. The shuttle bus stop is right in front of hotel which was very convenient. The room is a little bit old but clean. Breakfast is good. Anyway guest will need code from hotel to open the barrier before they can drive in the private hotels area.

Wonderful staff, beautiful chateau. But...prices higher than Paris. Room needs significant renovation. Worse, everything is over-charged. A coffee? 6 euros. A simple salad for lunch? 54€ for two. Use a semi-broken bike (no shifter!)? 15€ for one hour. Spa is similar-lovely space, terrible massage...plus it was for one hour and the very inexperienced young masseuse onl...

We had a short break away for 3 nights. Great value for money. Arrived late - no places to eat or drink locally - another short drive and urrrgggh we found McDonalds - desperate and hungry at 11pm it was closed and drive through only. there are take away menus in the foyer but again junk food! disappointing options. Struggled to get in through the front door, we were...

If you want to spend your time in a fancy hotel this is not for you. But if you want to visit and explore the surrounding area and crash at the end of the day in a comfortable bed and in a clean albeit smallish room then this does a great job. You can have breakfast onsite - we didnt as we were meeting family, but the smells coming from breakfast room were lovely. You ...

We enjoyed our stay at La Mère Poulard on Mont Saint-Michel, despite the fact that we had to walk up 4 flights of stairs to our room because there are no elevators/lifts in this hotel. I would NOT want them to alter the hotel in any way as that would take away from the ambience and the authenticity of the place. Our room was small, but spotlessly clean, and looked over...

The location is the best and the room with balcony and the view of the St. Michel is great. I brought my mom here in April for fullfilling her dream and booked this room so that she could see the view day and night and it served the purpose well. Moreover, the room is grand and bedroom is upstairs. I like that there is a bathrobe. The house slippers/shoes can be reques...

The hotel is beautiful and check in front desk staff very accomodating. I locked our passports and apartment keys in a pouch in the room safe, forgot to retrieve and called the hotel at about 10:30 pm to ask if the pouch was found. I was told they would have to let me know in the morning; housekeeping was closed. I was extremely worried about our passports safety and...

The room was small but it was sufficient for a family of four. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly. The best part about this hotel was that we could catch the bus to Le Mont St. Michel just across the street or we could make the short walk (a little more than a mile) to the island. I would stay here again for sure!

The hotel is close to the entrance of the main island and just a couple of steps up to get into the lobby. We were given room 105 which was at the 1st level, so it was a short flight of stairs to get in the room. Room didn’t have a view but that’s okay as we came back late at night after exploring Mont st Michel with fewer people. Woke up early to see the sunrise and i...

a lovely property set at port en bessin, which is a great base to explore the normandy beaches and do your requisite day trip to pont st michel which is about a 2 hour drive away. the emotive amercian cemetery is also a 15 minute drive from the hotel - we thought we would spend 30 mins there but spent almost 2 hours as it deserved the time. we only had one night her...

We stayed at the hotel recently for two nights and it was a perfect location from which to visit many of the local WWII sites and museums, as well as visit the lovely town of Bayeux and the Tapestry Museum. The staff could not have been more accommodating and Frederick and Caroline are two that deserve special notice for their warmth and attention. Caroline recommend...

This is a modern, mid range / budget hotel, about a 30 minute walk out of Deauville in pleasant surroundings near the racecourse. The hotel room was clean, well decorated, and with reasonable hanging / storage space. The bed was large and comfortable and with the quiet surroundings, gave a good night's sleep. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. My only negative...

Hotel clean, linen good while towels were a little thin. Secure parking and staff were really good, slightly harassed trying to do too much. Breakfast was a riot, you weren’t really sure if you would get any. Fruit basket breeding it’s own penicillin, egg boiler not turned and when they remembered to, they used cold water. After 25 mins all 6 eggs were still at room te...

We are happy with our stay in Campanile. The room is clean, the bed is also comfortable, the Bathroom is big enough with a bathtub. Hot drinks offered in the room. We didnt try the restaurant but there is a buffet for aperitif and dessert. 3-4 mins drive to Deauville and trouville beach, not sure if there is a public transport service.

Hotel was lovely with lots of character and charm (be warned not good for elderly or disabled travellers as there is only lift access to parts of the hotel). Reception staff were very warm and welcoming. A little disappointing that breakfast is not included but, that seems to be a thing in France. Street has a fantastic location right on the Main Street surrounded by p...

Although the rooms are a little tired, they are perfectly alright. The following pros make up for this: You can park right outside the rooms, dogs are allowed, it's just off the motorway and rooms are quiet. Options for dinner are the campanile restaurant, the Courtepaille up the road or the pizza place across the roundabout. For breakfast, if all you want is a croissa...

Having made a long journey arriving at 6 pm , the reception was empty and after wandering around the hotel for at least 20 minutes someone appeared and was very grumpy making us feel as if we should not be there. We were then informed the restaurant was closed for the evening, we then had to make another journey into the town to look for a place to eat.

The decor is tired, the staff are bored, and the rooms need a deep clean. But the location is just perfect, on the harbour and as central as you can get. They offer secure parking but there is a public carpark (pay and display) just across the street which is actually a little cheaper. Also the hotel parking is a good 500m walk away (up hill!) so unless the security is...
Cheap places to stay in Lower Normandy

We booked online a family room for 31 euros. We paid 5 euros each for breakfast. It was great value for money. The hotel has no staff after 11 each day til 6pm, which we found unusual, but the check in service at the security gate was very easy, so we got our key card to our room and were able to get in without issues. There are plenty of eating places within 2 minut...

We stayed on 3rd jan 2019 & paid on a credit card, then we were going to stay a second night & paid in euros, we had an emergency & had to return to England at 4pm on the 4th jan so we never used the room.. can we get a refund ? There was nobody on reception to ask for a refund ..Reservation 488312. Ref.. 162410....Susan Moore room 224 ......27.95euros paid .. or pe...

I stayed here for the first time, coming off the ferry before a long drive down to the Charente. The computerised self-check-in was easy and I opted for breakfast. I received a key and found my room. It was very clean and I had two beds. The shower is one of those plastic affairs you get on a ferry, but it worked and everything was basic (only one electric socket) but ...

The hotel is very hard to find, especially in night. I drive through the highway and didn't notice there is a very narrow lane lead down to the hotel. To my surprise, the staff is waiting for my check-in. Even she couldn't speak English, we had a nice talk. The room is big and have everything we need. Even a washing machine! There is paintings in the room and she said ...

The hotel is in a good location and seems like a good deal when booking. But please beware that it closes at 9:30/10pm and no one will be there to check you in. This information was not listed on Agoda at all and we ended up staying somewhere else and the hotel still charged our card unnecessarily even though no where does it state that they close in the evening.

I was made to pay again for my room despite having my agoda voucher. I checked in at 4pm with a small dog, asked for a ground floor room, none available, was given a room on the top floor, lift was only working to the 2nd floor, had to then get out and go up a flight of stairs, asked for a lower floor, none available despite only being half full. Never again.

On the last day of a motorcycle trip around Brittany this was our last stop. The hotel is situated on a slip road off the main road. There is ample off road parking for cars and motorcycles. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful. The rooms are very well equipped, plenty of electric sockets, spacious, nicely decorated and very clean. The en suites are spacious ...

While this is an older hotel and looking its age, the staff were exceptionally helpful and we had all we needed for an overnight stop. When my husband told them he had a bike on the back of the car, they insisted he bring it into the hotel overnight for safe keeping.

Very close to the main route west to Rennes, this is a great location. Simple, clean and small bedrooms but with all facilities you need for an overnight stop. Breakfast was ample and friendly, and open form 6.30am for early departures. Late arrivals require an understanding of an access code so be aware that no one is actually available after 11pm. That aside and slig...

Although we were able to find the hotel without difficulty, it is difficult to find the lobby. It is actually around the corner from where the hotel sign is. They should have a sign in various languages tell how to find the lobby. Otherwise, the hotel was good and worth a stay. I marked food/dining midway because we didn't eat there.

I picked that hotel because of its location to the D Day beaches, the parking for a car and they spoke English. Plenty of parking. 15 minute drive to Omaha beach. And the English part could have been better. Took me 15 minutes to check out in the morning. Other then that the hotel was fine, the rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant food was good but limit...

We took the train from Paris to Caen. We had rented a car through thrift which was a few minute walk from the train station. The hotel was another 2 minute walk. It was located at the edge of the city with an easy walk to the "old section". It also was directly across the street from the L'Orne River. We parked the car in the hotel lot that was secure and reasonably...

This hotel is not 4 star. Most things about it were ok but nothing was particularly luxurious. The rooms were small and dark, and there was only a hand held shower head. It certainly did not reflect the price paid or the photos on the website. The pool and spa area was very pleasant and the free wifi was much appreciated. We stayed in a small studio and it was really cramped. Our unit had no air con and it faced the garden and so we received all of the afternoon hot sun even though it was pretty cool out. Th...
