Very relax to stay in this hotel, excellent service”
Sala Lanna is located beside Ping River, away from the busiest district of Chiang Mai, good choice to stay here if you dislike crowd of ppl. Staff there are extremely friendly & helpful, fast response to your request & able to provide valuable travel information. Restaurant is excellent. Fine Italian food beside the river, romantic. Chef is friendly & good at communication with customers. Lastly, this is the first time I have experienced the whole day breakfast, including in the room package, serving from 7am - 5pm. It is really a considerate arrangement for customer who wake up late.

Incredible Getaway ”
What a wonderful experience. This boutique hotel is so chic with double shots of classy. The staff was outstanding in their service. So very attentive, but not overbearing; friendly, helpful and happy people. Our room was perfect for an intimate couples retreat. Romance started with a claw foot tub in the front center of the room, which was splendid. A very comfortable balcony for relaxing and taking in the city river and sounds. The bed was the Most comfortable in all of our 2 weeks of traveling throughout Thailand. We slept so well, which really helped with all the adventures we signed up for. M, and yes that is his name or at least is his non-Thai name, is a server in the Ping restaurant & for hotel room service. He is absolutely amazing! He exudes such joy and light. He literally made me smile every time I saw him and brought such positive energy. I can’t express how much of a blessing and value add he is for Sala Lanna. Overall, this hotel is splendid and a very special place to stay for days. I recommend Sala Lanna for couples, family, and those seeking a peaceful place with incredibly positive energy. It will be a highlight in your travels for sure.

Lovely Hotel and Stay”
We especially enjoyed this hotel, as it felt smaller and personal than some "boutique" hotels in Chiang Mai. The location is good, even though it is slightly outside of the old city. (If you use Grab for taxis, you can have a super easy/affordable time visiting any part of Chiang Mai!) There are some nice shops and cafes nearby, and it's not difficult to walk into the old city. The room itself was very comfortable- great bed, very clean, good shower... No complaints at all! The breakfast was also very good- it was a great start of the day, ready to enjoy the city. (Banana pancakes... Yum!) We would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay here again.

disappointing”
The second in "sala" group that I stayed. And it's as disappointing as the first one. The room itself was very small, no sofa whatsoever, just bed, desk, a chair. It's call superior river view balcony, but you can hardly see any river from that useless balcony at all. The hotel strongly reminded me of "Dune" in Hua Hin, which is one of the biggest disappointments in my agoda bookings. Swimming pool was about a size of a plunge pool in some private villa and located on the roof top, where everyone can see you from all sides. The breakfast was really nothing special. The room seemed to have been well designed at first glance, but details were poorly-made. And everything in this hotel is damp somehow. The good thing is the location, you can walk to a lot of night-time highlights of Chiang Mai, like the Riverside, the (bad-food) goodview, etc. Next time, if I ever go to Chiang Mai again, I'll try the Chedi instead.

Chic design, clean, new and great service”
Very impressed with what Sala Lanna has to offer. The location is great, on the Ping river side. Imagine you have your breakfast in the morning at the riverside. The hotel is new with boutique design. Room is bright and clean. Bathroom is large. Breakfast Is great (a la carte). It is a peaceful and relaxing stay.

Clean hotel with good location”
The hotel is easily access in center of Chiang mai. It's right next to a famous coffee shop and very close to the famous pub and restaurant. The room was clean and nicely decorated. We didn't have much time to spend in the room as we were mostly out sightseeing but it would be nice to spend more time relaxing at the hotel.

Nice stay”
Nice hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai. Room was nice and exactly as shown in photos. Some receptionists were quite new to the job so not as efficient as can be. Breakfast was served at a restaurant next door to the hotel.

Excellent”
Beautiful hotel. 8 minutes by tuk tuk from the all the bars and touristy areas. Very easy to catch a tuk tuk right outside the hotel and negotiate prices. Hotel was very clean &spacious. We were also provided with free breakfast (which I didn't originally add on) which was very nice of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious &overlooked the river. Staff was all so friendly and willing to answer any questions we may of had and had plenty of suggestions for us to tour. Something off with the sewer system in my room, the room would smell horribly and you could smell it was coming from the bathroom area. Our groups room right next door did not have this issue. The one thing that really did upset me and my group was, the hotel approached us about 2 towels (1 face, 1 body) w/a post it on it with prices, they were charging us for the 2 towels bc they were dirty and they couldn't get it clean and told us the towels are just for our face. There was minimal makeup on it!! I did NOT pay this.

Quality Hotel”
If you are looking for a quiet area to stay in Chang Mai, I recommend Sala Lanna. While not perfect, the hotel is overall quite good and I would stay again. If you are looking to be more in the heart of the city though, then you will likely want to find a different hotel. Everything is within walking distance though so it depends on what you are looking for.

Good hotel in an excellent new booming area in Chiang Mai”
It's by the river in the very nice neighborhood in Chiang Mai. Hotel, itself, is good. The room layout is different from others. There is no view in the room though if you get the down stair ones. On the plus side, there is big sofa, almost like sofa bed, if you have extra guest.

good location for Loy Krathong”
As we were visiting Chiang Mai during Loy Krathong I selected this hotel based on its location along the river. Positives about the place were: plenty of places to go out and eat at within walking distance. The old city was across the river and took about 20 minutes to walk to the night markets. The rooms were new and provided ample circulation space for two people, with a comfortable bed, which can be hard to find at times in Asia. The front desk staff's English was good making it easy to check-in and out and ask questions. Negatives about the place were: the breakfast. At best the food was underwhelming with slow service. Any cooking requests or deviations from the limited 5 breakfast options provided on the menu were made difficult due to the waiting staff having little command of English. There were a number of places to eat within close proximity to the hotel and we choose to eat at those rather than the hotel given the uninspiring breakfasts. There were no details provided regarding the roof top pool and bar. One of the reasons l stayed at this hotel was so that l would be able to view the lanterns drift across the sky. However when we tried to access the roof area we were surprise and quite disappointed that the area was locked. The roof area seemed to only be open when there was a specially organised event. During this time of year Chiang Mai is quite busy and we found it difficult to get taxi's. While walking around was not a problem for us this may be something to keep in mind if you plan to visit the old part of the city.

Overpriced”
Sala Lanna is a nice enough boutique hotel, but not nice enough for the price. The rooms were small and not very well designed. We didn't like the open bathroom as you walked into the room. The often wet floor was very inconvenient as you always have to walk in and out through the bathroom. The hotel as a whole looks a bit tired and is very dark and gloomy inside. I know this is an intentional part of the design, but it doesnt exactly lift your spirits. The location on the Ping river is quite nice, but it was very quiet when we were there and we felt that we would rather have been on the other side of the river. Staff were nice enough. Food ok, but the a la carte, limited breakfast options didnt reflect the price either. I would expect to pay no more than 2,500 baht a night for this standard of accomodation... at a push.

Relaxing, riverside beautique hotel”
I've stayed here twice in the past few months and really enjoyed my time here. The breakfast food and coffee are superb and are served right on the bank of the river. I would suggest getting a riverview room if it's in your budget as I've stayed in both rooms and the riverside rooms are quieter and have a great view. The Riverside restaurant is close by and has excellent Thai food and several live bands each night. Highly recommended. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. Enjoy your stay!

Bijou Boutique, bordering on the pretentious. ”
Clearly pitched at the well-heeled, discerning traveller, this was an interesting hotel. It’s situated on the banks of the Ping 15 minutes walk across a pedestrian bridge from the old town and only 5 minutes walk from a fabulous night-market. We were allocated a ground floor suite, that was huge. It had 3 separate rooms: lounge, bedroom and bathroom, which was to-die-for, with a bath in the centre of the room. At the end of the bathroom was a glass wall which looked onto a small patio and tall painted white wall; so no view. Everything was very tastefully decorated in white, with huge bed, dressed in white linen. Sadly, the rooftop terrace, bar and pool was closed for the rainy season. Next door is the hotel’s Ping restaurant, complete with riverside dining and a slouch area with floor cushions. Good choice of breakfast, served at the table.

Very nice hotel, will come back for sure.”
What a hidden gem in Chiang Mai. For those who have tried the hugh resorts, stay here and you will see how intimate this place is. Oh, pls fix the internet, very unstable!

Good experience in CNX ”
The location is not far from bus station with near to the river, if you book the riverview room is the good choice. The difficult sleep person should avoid the standard room as it near to the road which may have some car noise at night. Staff are friendly and have a good service mind.

Lovely small hotel with a nice relax environment. The room and material reflex the local location. The restaurants are good too with the river view. One of the choice for Chiang mai's river hotels.
