5 gold stars”
At first i was very disappointed at the fact i had no private balcony or a poolside view or country view, this is what i had searched the web for, as it was quite important to me..,After i got over that little incident the rest of my visit which was 12 nights, i found that this hotel the imperial mae ping was a little gem. It was beautifully set out with all the hotel services within easy reach, i was looking forward to the beer garden being opened for business but i hear it will be open by october 2009, i'll be back. The staff were so polite and respectful.Elevators doors, front door car doors were always politely opened for us. greetings from all staff that made eye contact with me. always greeted me with respect. the hotel itself was extremely clean and very well maintained the pool area was beautiful and the restaurants were fabulous. All staff also looked smart and always well groomed..I will definitely go back to the imperial mae ping and will promote this hotel to all, who are looking to visit chiang mai.

The Perfect Hotel to Stay in Chiangmai”
From Bangkok,my sister and I reached Chiangmai by VIP bus. The amazing thing was that the bus stops right next to Imperial Mae Ping Hotel. Perfect! We stayed for 3nts/4days. Since we arrived on a Sunday, we got the chance to visit the Sunday Market, which was a 5-10mins walk. The Night Bazaar was just a few steps away. Imperial Mae Ping has fabulous staffs. They were polite, courteous and helpful in many ways. The concierge was a great help, they guide you thru all the way. Buffet breakfast was excellent. Swimming pool was great. We booked our tour from the hotel itself at a good price. I had a great time in Chiangmai. Thanks to you Imperial Mae Ping for making our stay a remarkable one. At an affordable price, who wouldn't go back there again!

2 days in Chiang Mai”
We spent 2 days in Mae Taeng and then moved to Chiang Mai. We chose the Imperial because on our last trip to Chiang Mai, had dinner on their outside terrace. Made the decision that on our next trip to Chian Mai, we would select the Imperial as our hotel. It wasn't a mistake. The hotel is excellent. It caters to travelers. It was always busy with tour groups coming and going but they still had time for the independent traveler. Yes, the elevators are slow but they do work! AND the buffet breakfast was one of the best throughout Thailand other than Bangkok's large hotels. They are located close to where we wanted to go, took the Mae Ping River Cruise and the cruise operator sent a van to pick us up, no additional charge. It is very close to the Night Bazaar and old town so great location too.

Best Hotel in Chiang Mai ”
we would recommend the imperial mae ping hotel, it is very central and close to night markets. a great restaurant nearby just up on the corner "cafe de siam" and also further up the street is the lemongrass cafe ( no view but very tasty). another restaurant to try is the riverside restaurant which is very romantic and lovely to sit on the river and watch the boats go by. the tuk tuk driver outside on the street near the imperial is named naron and i think his number was 335...lovely guy and very helpful. also sit around the pool and enjoy the beautiful gardens of the mae ping and why not have a massage or pedicure/manicure from the girls nearby. (very cheap). we had a lovely time in chiang mae and will certainly be staying back at the imperial mae ping hotel. thankyou to all the friendly helpful staff.

Return Guest”
The staff has always been friendly and helpful during our stays. The breakfast buffet is one of the better ones in Thailand in our opinion. The night bazaar is a must see if you are visiting Chiang Mai and from the hotel it is only a short walk and takes just a few minutes. We also enjoy visiting some of the Hill's tribes and learning more about their history. A lot to see in and around Chiang Mai and there never seems to be enough time. We will continue to visit Chiang Mai and will always stay at the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel.

A review of the Imperial Mae Peng hotel ”
The Imperial Mae Ping Hotel in Chiang Mai is a good value for money hotel if one doesn't want to spend a lot of time in the hotel. In other words, it's a good home base , not a luxurious spa.The location is convenient to all of the various markets either walking or a short tuk tuk ride. As with most hotels, services such as laundry and internet are expensive. However if you cross the street those services are readily available at cheap prices. Similarly, The dinning room is reasonably expensive with quality alternatives within a short walk. Overall, good value.

Very pleasant surprise- lovely hotel”
We loved our stay sg the imperial Mae ping. After reading a number of reviews beforehand I had mixed feelings however on arrival we were very impressed with many features for example. The reception staff were helpful, the grounds beautiful, the swimming pool and pool area was just lovely. Bit surprised that we had 2 single beds rather than a double however the room was comfortable, had a lovely view, good daily service and most comfortable. There was a variety of restaurants to choose from. The location was excellent so close to the night bazaar and plenty of locations for massages and laundry services. We used the tour desk to book our excursion to train as elephant mahouts. Loved the lovely Japanese instrument playing on the foyer of an evening. All on all a lovely hotel that I would not hesitate to recommend. Don't forget to visit the fish spa behind the pool. It was great.

Comfortable Hotel near the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar”
i have stayed at the imperial mae ping many times. the great location in close proximity to the chiang mai night bazaar, value for the money, hospitable and gracious thai service, clean and comfortable guest rooms, airport shuttle, wireless internet connection, good restaurant, and tour representative desk for scheduling excursions around the area combine to provide a very nice experience. i highly recommend the imp in chiang mai.

Another good stay at Imperial meeting”
For my third trip to Chiang Mai within a few months and to celebrate the Thai New Year (Songkran Festival(, I have chosen again the Imperial Mae Ping Hotel. The staff was, as usual, very nice and helpful. A little con would be that the old starts to suffer from its age and would need a refresh. Having said that, I would not change the hotel, since it has a very nice location, at a walking distance of the famous night bazaar. Again, I would like to emphasize the excellent quality of the stay. Very good value for money!

Loved the Imperial Mae Ping - we were sad to leave”
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Imperial Mae Ping for 5 nights in December 2009. We were not sure what to expect due to the mixed reviews but thought it was worth a chance given the great deal we got through Agoda. WOW I am glad we chose this place because it was everything we were looking for! Chiang Mai was the highlight of our 1 month trip to Thailand, which probably had alot to do with the Imperial Mae Ping! The staff were so friendly, the breakfast buffet was amazing (although I probably ate too much there) and the pools were great (especially the more private adults only pool on the 2nd floor). Very close (walking distance) to the Night Bazaar and close to a very wide range of restaurants - we ate out at a different place every night. We were very sad to leave Chiang Mai and the Imperial, and if we go back to Chiang Mai we will DEFINITELY be staying at the Imperial!

Warm and welcoming ”
We enjoyed our stay at the Imperial Mae Ping hotel. They had a nice welcoming reception area and a tour desk where you can book tours to visit different sites and even go to nearby Chiang Rai for a day. The staff were nice and friendly and attended to all our queries. The hotel is also walking distance from the night bazaar area so it is very convenient to wander out even late at night!

Chiang Mai Mae Ping”
We were in Chiang Mai during the Lua Krathong Festival in early November when so many evening activities are focused on the riverside area. The hotel offered a perfect location for being close to the evening action - both night bazzar and riverside festival - as well as being just a few minute's walk from the old town. In fact, the hotel is situated just around the corner from the night bazzar (great place to find your dinner!) and midway between the old town and the river. We found it to be a convenient base for our sightseeing as we could easily pop back into the hotel for a refresher as we needed to. We found the hotel staff to be very friendly and professional. Check in-out quick and easy, lobby staff helpful and always smiling, and the cleaning staff should really be commended for keeping the place shining. I would recommend the Mae Ping to anyone planning to be in Chiang Mai and I will certainly make it a point to use the hotel on future trips to the city.

Comfortable but slightly worn”
I recommend the Imperial Mae Ping for its value, great location near Chiang Mai points of interest, and its friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are fairly spacious and have international cable TV and very fast, free wifi. The two swimming pools are inviting and offer a quiet retreat from the outside noise. In-house are two decent restaurants, a coffee shop, and bar. On the downside, the hotel has an institutional feel and is slightly dated and worn. It draws large numbers of tour groups, and the slow elevators can mean long waits during check-in and check-out times. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection of Asian and Western options but is usually crowded; finding a table is sometimes a problem. The style of the lobby and rooms is somewhat dated, the carpet in the halls and stairways is worn through in spots, and some hallways could use new paint.

3 days at Imperial Mae Ping”
for what it is a very nice facility. However if fitness facility is important, the Centara duangtang right around the corner would be preferred. Imperial Mae Ping has great staff, nice clean rooms, free coffee and water in rooms, Loi Kroh road right outside door night bazaar 1.5 blocks away. My stay did not include the breakfast which at 400 baht alacarte is pricey so I NEVER TRIED THE FOOD. No worries as a multitude of great eateries at wonderfully inexpensive prices within a block. For a place to rest in relative comfort and cleanliness is a fine middle class facility. Free shuttle around city large hotels and Central Plaza Airport Shopping plaza which is not AT the airport but a few hundred meters away. A great place to stay a couple of days initially to get your bearings then decide on places for longer stays.

My first visit in Ching Mai (Mae Ping Hotel)”
Knew nothing about hotels in Ching Mai as this was my first visit to Ching Mai. After going through the reviews in agoda.com, I decided to make a reservation with Mae Ping Hotel. Really excellent indeed. As March was the low season, I just paid about Hong Kong dollars two hundred and something for a 4-star hotel. At first, I didn't believe that this was true and I was going to accept some sub-standard service / facility in the hotel, taking into account of the very 'reasonable' price. But my impression of the hotel was later found to be all positive. Excellent service, clean, safe and having a 4-star hotel standard. I will go to Ching Mai again in April. Though the room rate will be doubled as it will be a high-season for travel, I will nevertheless stay in this hotel again.

Chang Mai”
Our stay at the Imperial Mae Ping was very short, only 2 days however we found the hotel to be quite nice. We ate breakfast in the hotel which was not included (which I though should have been as it was the only hotel we stayed at that breakfast was not included). However the breakfast was a decent sized buffet with many choices. We booked a sight seeing tour through the hotel which was handled very well & reasonably priced. The hotel is just a short walk from old city center & from the night bazaar which was great & it was far enough away that we were not disturbed by much noise. We had to make a late check out of 5:00pm due to flight times & the staff were very accommodating even though there was a very large group checking in at 6:00pm.

Great reservation staff and friendly people”
I made an online reservation through agoda Android application on my smartphone, and the program placed the reservation after I entered the CC number without confirming the date. As a result, Agoda put the very night as the stay date, and won't allow cancellation or change. I was unable to get hold of a live person after multiple attempts, and the email to Agoda did not produce any response. In the end, I wrote an email to the Imperial Mae Ping hotel requesting help, and surprisingly got back the next day from Rewadee of reservation department. "Acknowledged to change date as below request, without charge." What a wonderful service! I am sure I will enjoy the stay! Thank you Rewadee!

Great location but too many bus tour groups”
This was my third or fourth stay at The Imperial Mae Ping Hotel, and perhaps will be my last. The rooms are comfortable, and for TV and movie watchers there is a good selection of channels. There are two outdoor pools, a small one on the second floor and a large one on ground level. The large pool is beautiful and was never busy when I wanted to use it. However, it apparently closes at 6:00 p.m., which I thought was a little early in the day, especially if one has been out sightseeing. The staff was polite, and a few staff members were actually friendly. The problem this time was that the hotel was overrun by large bus tour groups. About 6 buses would pull in at a time, making it noisy, and difficult to get through the lobby, and almost impossible to get an elevator. I would recommend not getting a room on the parking lot side as there is a strip of bars and a Thai boxing arena on that side that creates a fair bit of noise at night and well into the morning. Then early in the morning the buses are running and the tour guides are busy getting their groups into the buses, which creates a lot of noise as well. If you request a room on the pool side, you will need to deal with the music from the Hotel's beer garden throughout the evening, but that at least shuts down around midnight. There are a couple of internet bars directly across the street from the hotel that are very reasonably priced, as well as a few places that do laundry very inexpensively. Of course, if you have money to burn, the hotel also has these facilities. The hotel is in a great location, just one block west of the Night Bazaar, and close to many coffee shops and restaurants - both local and western.

Very pleased with the accommodations and cost.”
We had a very good experience at The Imperial Mae Ping hotel. The location was excellent in terms of getting to the Old City, the night bazaar and the riverfront. The breakfast buffet was outstanidng. A special thanks to the staff - my wife left her purse (with our passports in it!) at the bar one evening. The staff found it and immediately returned it to us, with everything intact. Thank you!
