Short story: Take any other hotel. Full story below: White Sand Beach Resort in Koh Chang, Thailand, offers a great potential, but unfortunately, our experience was marred by several issues that need immediate attention. We live in Thailand since several years and been in Koh Chang few times, this review is based on the thai standard (not western standard that is even higher). The details of the sticky bad maintenaid room are written by other reviewers and are true. Our stay was plagued by various problems that significantly impacted our overall enjoyment and even forced us to leave the hotel earlier. One of the receptionnist, who knows only few words in English, behave with arrogance and thirst for money. We don't mention everything but some details only to let anyone to make his own opinion. It is low season in July, usually the hotel in Thailand use this opportunity to repair and clean deeply every rooms and corner of the property. We saw 3 housekeepers. None clean nothing, not even our bungalows. We did clean our room at the check-in and follwing day. Our bin was even full the day of check in. The beach is full of trash. The staff only sit all day and do nothing? (Question, noting diffamation) The pretented CEO dares to insult on the phone. Was a a communication barrier? (Question, noting diffamation) In fact, the electricity was cut around 4pm during our 3rd day. The staff told us to wait 20 minutes before the electricity comes back, then they extended time to time how long we should wait. We offer them to fix the electrical problem or at least to let us check the box that was pretented broken but they refused. Because we could see all the staff women around a generator (solar or gazoline) we strongly believed that we were able to help them with our ingenior knowledge. But then the staff changed her story, she asked all colleagues to move away from the electrical box and tol us that the to road to the hotel was obstructed by electrical pilone and trees that fall down. We wanted to have a look there too but the staff said that it was very dangerous and officials ingeniors was already there. Was her belief or a lie ? (Question, noting diffamation) The staff told us that all the island was out of electricity but we send few messages to other places on the Island including the hotel next door and everyone confirmed they have electricity. The hotel ask us to relax and sit for a drink during the waiting time, asking us to order food asweel. It was 8pm, we were blocked. We quicky eat and decided to check out. The staff show us very sad face that we wouldn't order more drinks/food. We insists for the check out which include to give us back the ID left as deposit. We wanted to speak with other 1 customer but he was completly drunk (he vomit in the middle of the restaurant). After we wanted to speak to a couple with 2 kids, but the receptionnist interrupt us. Were they scared that everyon would leave the hotel? As reminder, the hotel pretented that the road was closed but we could see a car coming. The hotel pretented it was impossible to walk on the beach and the authorities send warning to do so. Was that a lie ? (Question, noting diffamation) We didn't listen the warning and we left the hotel by foot and 10min later we were in an other hotel's room with electricity. The next day, we went back with the Police to get back the ID left "as deposit". The hotel had no choice and gives back the ID. The refund is still in hold. The hotel pretended willing to refund but prentent that Agoda doesnt allow the refund. Agoda said that they try to contact the hotel but nobody answer. Because we do care about the diffamation law in Thailand that is restrictive, we do believe that some bad reviews can not be published or/and can be deleted for any hotel/business in Thailand and this comment is general, not related specifically with WhitesandbeachResort. Our purpose here is not to blame the hotel but to ask questions.
